hi lads and ladies,
i am going to view a 2002 s3 with seized engine with a view to swap over my forged engine with k300 bbt, whilst i know i can get it all in i am wondering about the egt probe, as my turbo doesn't have any where to put this is it just as easy to put on the down pipe ?? if so what sort of sized boss would i need etc or is their any where else i should put it ??

You could get a bung welded into the down pipe, or even better the mani... You're going to have to think about what down pipe you're going to use as well, unless your A3 is quattro?

To be honest though, it seems a bit of a backwards way of doing things... You'd probably be better off chopping the k300 in for a hybrid k04

There's no doubt other technicalities I've missed out on as well. . ?
 
It's a Quattro I've got with all the bits and bobs . I need the car back together in four days so much easier to just swap everything over. I am defo not taking turbo or manifold off as its xs pro and can't be bothered with that ball ache again, also have full 3 inch turbo back exhaust duel port water meth AirTech cooler etc as its all coming from a running car was just needing mapped and had everything from new so not swapping for any second hand tat :)
 
Might take you a bit longer than 4 days I suspect... everything on an A3 is the other way round so depends on what you plan to do... the k03 sits higher than the k04, the wiring is designed for stuff to be on the other side...

EGT boss (Bill can supply these) in the DP will work, it needs to be close to the hotside to work and the temps will be lower than the ECU is expecting too...

You won't be able to use your existing map though

Do you go to any of the Scottish Audi clan meets from Facebook ? I haven't yet as my a3 is a bit battered in the outside lol
But if I can get a clean s3 I would go :)
 
Nah mate no got Facebook lol. I was the same when I had my A3 never went to anything. Been to a few scottishvag meets with S3. Last few Edinburgh ones I went too were a bit quiet so maybe try clan ones this year
