In a few months I'm off up to Ardheslaig NW coast of Scotland, as it's out in the middle of nowhere I called Audi breakdown up to see what would happen if the worst were to happen with regards to getting the car, the wife & myself back home.....anyway whilst on the call the operator told me that there was an app in the app store that will pinpoint your exact location and save your details to pass onto Audi in the event of a breakdown/accident, for the hell of me I can't find it!!!

Anyone have it? The only one I can see is this one which seems to cover America: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/audi-roadside/id431755194?mt=8

Thanks

Is it the Audi Mileage Checker app? It's on the featured apps page at the bottom of Owners area page in small writing right at the bottom...:friends:

If you download the AA application, one of the first "buttons" within the App is "Request Roadside Assistance", so if you log into the app with all your vehicle details, then all you have to do is press that button within the app, and it will send your details and location to the AA requesting assistance, which will then contact your (assuming you have an iPhone, it will need "location Services" enabled so it can send your exact location. (I have no idea of the equivalent for Android phones)

I can only assume this is what he meant, as I assume with Audi Assist being "underwritten" by the AA, they know its an "Audi" call out

Just to add to the above (as I'd forgotten what I did and just checked LOL) if you look at the bottom of the app when you load it, select Add Vehicle, within that section you can add your Reg Number, name and photo of your car, if then within that section you select Breakdown Cover, you can add the Audi Assist phone number, membership number (if you have it - I don't, as when Audi swapped from the RAC to the AA a while back they didn't issue new cards) and company - so I put Audi Assist.

Once all these details are added in and saved, then pressing the "Request Roadside Assistance" button send them to the AA, it sends your location as well (as indicated above) and they can contact you.

I also have my motorcycle in here, for which breakdown is covered by the RAC - and they pass details on I believe, as you can add more than one vehicle

As an aside you can also add in servicing, tax and insurance reminders, as well as insurance policy details etc - always useful to have with you.

And you don't need to be an AA member to use the app either (some features can only be accessed by members, but for assistance you don't need those).

Only downside - is whether you have a signal or not or your phone LOL.

Not sure how you made this work as when I try to register it says that the membership number and postcode do not match their records. Also, aren't they different vans that come out for Audi, or are they just bog standard AA vans?

I was told by my local dealer that they don't have tow trucks/breakdown vans. They sub it out to whoever is local to the garage..Audi UK have breakdown trucks but sometimes sub this service out..:friends:

I didn't have to register? The app I downloaded from the Apple App Store is called "theaa" if that helps? Same App?

Touch wood jaypers777 I've not had to use it, but when you enter your breakdown membership details it asks you what company - so I have my S3, my wife's A1, and my bikes "registered" within the App, for my bikes, they are covered by the RAC.

For our 2 Audi's I've entered the Breakdown Service (when asked) as Audi Assist.

I've never been asked to register though so am a bit confused as to what might be happening - true I've not entered a membership number though, as when I got my S3, it was covered by the RAC under Audi Assist and when Audi swapped that to the AA, they didn't issue new cards (so I've left membership number blank for my S3)

OK thanks for the help, I'll have another look tomorrow...I've been up since 2pm Thursday!!! so off to bed now ;)

And yes it's for the iPhone :)

I called out Audi Assist and got a normal AA breakdown van. It wasn't a flatbed (just a transit type), but did have towing stuff (though didn't need that for me :yum:)

I tried installing the AA app on my phone, but it said my phone was not compatible. It is quite an old Samsung (Android) phone. It's a pain that you can't update Android like ios.

Don't think you can lift the front wheels up and tow a quattro with just the back wheels on the ground!?!?

I'll try the app in a bit.

Yes you can, it's Haldex, not "proper" quattro ;)

See Owners Manual page 246 for further info.

Ahh right thanks, just wondered why the quattro TT has badges saying it front and rear, yet no badges on the S3!!!
