Hi Guys here is a strange one for all you clever technical wizards. To cut a long story short, I have an A5 3.0tdi. I had management lights come up after the car sat for a couple of weeks, fault codes listed heater plugs 4 were not working. Particulate filter warning would come on and not re generate, I had a terror clean done still no re gen (forced) it was then found egr valve seized so was replaced and still no re gen. DPF sent off for deep clean, still no re gen, a good clean secondhand DPF fitted, still no re gen. Garage then sent car to Audi to reset ecu as this is what an Audi Tech said will be needed if it will not re gen. Now this is the strange bit, Audi say it will not re gen as its showing up as an S6 on their system, how can that be? They say ecu needs a complete re-map or a new ecu. My bill so far is 1400 without ecu remap or new ecu, car is a 57 plate with 140k on it, if there is no easy answer then I will have to cut my losses with it. Any ideas Guys other than a second hand ecu?

That all sounds very strange. The only thing I can think is that the car may have had a botched remap and this has caused your issues. How long have you owned the car ?.
At 140K ,miles it's possible the original DPF may be well past it's best and in your case I would have probably just had the DPF gutted and the car remapped. That would have resolved all your issues in one go.
As you want to keep the car standard I would advise taking it to somebody who knows what they are doing as regards the mapping on the ECU.
I see your in Essex, not sure how far away you are from @bobby singh I know he lives down that way.
He may be able to help you out by writing a standard map on the ECU. Usually DPF's dont regen because of sensor failures or the ECU isn't seeing all the correct conditions .

Have had the car almost 3 years and the only other issue it has had was the swirl flap arms i replaced. Car ran fine when it was getting a half hour run each way to and from work, It obviously blocked up after I moved and the car was no longer getting the run it had previously, but was fine when I parked it up. I mentioned to the garage about a DPF Delete and they said cant get away with it anymore as it shows up on the emissions test for the MOT. I cant see how the car run perfectly before and now the ECU thinks its a different engine?

My car passes the MOT fine with a gutted DPF. Actually recorded a lower smoke test result than the wifes 1.4D Yaris which didn't have a DPF from new.

Sorry for the late response - just logged on and noted Karl had tag me.
If you still need help with this its best to drop me a pm and I can located and upload the stock tune. I don't understand how the tune has changed to a S6 one you say? that just makes no sense.
If you have VCDS you can do adv id and see what the software version you have and match that to the ECU.

I would take a full BDM read before doing anything to the ecu.

Cheers

Thanks for your help and replies guys. The garage the car was originally at pulled the car out of Audi and took it to VWAudiTec in Chelmsford, the guy there Jamie had it re generating in no time, dont ask me how, I have no idea, seems Audi wasnt giving the full picture it turns out the radio/sat nav head had been changed and one from an S6 had been fitted, which when turned on comes up with S6, nothing to do with ECU confliction as they had us believe, maybe they see the ££££££ or their pooper went? Puts a lot of faith in Audi.
