Hi everyone. I'm after some advice. I bought the ttrs brake setup. Had the calipers refurbished and bought new pads brake lines etc so everything is like new.
My only concern is the discs which are used. They do have a slight lip and look slightly scored if I'm being picky.
Now my question is should I fit these discs and see how they go? Buy new ttrs discs, or buy the adapters to fit the 345mm discs.
I'd love the AP conversation but I can't afford them.
Thanks in advance

It'll only cost a few quid per disc to have them skimmed which will remove the pits and lip...I'd go for that option if it was me :)

Hmm, I did think of that. The only place I can find by me want £60 a disc. But I've got to fit them for them to skim them and didn't want to put my new pads on with the discs as they are.
On another note alot of people are saying to not bother with ttrs discs due to how prone they are to warp. I maybe do one track day a year and don't hammer the car but do I need to worry about them warping? Are the 345mm any better?

Its never a few quid to skim these sized discs, its more like £100-£150 in total, I've used this facility for myself & clients, best option is fit them, then take to be skimmed flat, then fit new pads, if you have old ones to hand to use now that would be best until skimmed.

If it was me I would fit new discs but that is only because I am really fussy...

I think the TT RS disc are good enough for fast road use but if you are going to track it then they probably won't last.

I was speaking to a fellow ASN member before I got mine and he said his only gave up after 8 hot laps of Donnington.

I am very happy with mine but don't use them to their full potential very often but it is reassuring that you have the stopping power in those twitchy bum moments!

Ok I'm looking into getting them skimmed once I finally get them fitted. Just waiting for the weather to get a bit better.
So there's no extra benefit to using the smaller discs? Less likely to warp etc?
Currently running ebc blade discs with only a few thousand miles on them.

The only way to reduce warping disc's is to get heat treated performance discs, which cost a lot more than standard discs.
I warped a brand new set of stock S3 discs in half a day at Oulton Park. Got some Tarox discs performance discs and went back to Oulton Park and brakes performed brilliantly, no warping at all.

I think I will be looking into the tarrox discs once I get these fitted, but might have to wait a bit for them due to th cost. Might just use the used discs and pads as they are until I can afford the new discs. Saves ruining my new pads.
I know what you mean, I warped my Standard discs at Oulton towards the end of the day on my old s3. Can't wait to go back once I get all these bits on the car.
