So I've only done about 2500 miles and it's coming up to a year, the dash says 'oil change in 28 days' or something along those lines....

Am I meant to do what it says or can it be postponed for another 6 months/1 year?

I'm the occasional driver as you can tell by my mileage so any suggestions?

You are obviously set to the "fixed" service regime, which is correct for low mileage (below 10K per year)

So, yes, you should get the service done.

Cheers fella

Last question, I understand having your car serviced at a non-franchised dealer doesn't affect your warranty according to EU rules, as long as original equipment is used and servicing schedule is followed.

If UK leaves the EU, is this rule still enforced?

'EU Block Exemption laws let customers get cars serviced outside dealer networks without invalidating their warranty'

Wow - politics now:help:

I would think that UK would retain good legislation and get rid of the bad.

But this sort of legislation is not EU law. It is UK law that has been enacted because we have to as part of being in the EU.
If we leave, all these laws would still be on the statute book and so would not immediately disappear. Each would be considered on it's merit.
At least that's my supposition.

If you can find a non franchised dealer offering the same service with same parts etc at a lower price, Audi will match it. They're running a price match

I'm planning to take mine to 4rings in Dartford, I have a Bexley Audi 3 minutes drive away but I don't trust them with my car.
Maidstone is about 30 minute drive without traffic, a bit inconvenient for me to go all the way there, although they did replace my faulty condensing unit for A/C (out of warranty of course)

The only thing with non Audi main dealer stamp: I have a mate that works for BMW, he said they will not sell a used BMW unless it has a fully stamped book by BMW main dealer. So on that basis, I'd assume Audi are the same?!?!? if they are then surely when it comes to trade in time the value of your car will be less as they will not be selling it on themselves!

I've had a quote for the first oil service today £206, not cheap! but at least it's done by the place I bought the car from and will be buying my next one from! It's their supplied car, they've serviced it, so from a sales view it has to be a good thing for them, which will hopefully reflect in my trade in price....or am I being naive lol?!?

I was going to ask - does this first oil change count as a service as in "full service history"?

Save yourself a small fortune by supplying your own oil. The markup dealers charge is outrageous, it won't affect a "main dealer service stamp" but will save you in the long run. Dealers are happy to service your car with you supplying the oil.

Get a price for the service with and without you supplying the oil to see what I mean

Thanks. Any recommendations from people on what oil is best?

I'd personally go for either Shell Helix Ultra ECT 5W-30, Helix Ultra Professional AV-L 0W-30 or Castrol Edge LL 5w-30

All meet VAG 504.00/507.00

+1 for Castrol Edge Long Life (I could be saying that as it's free though... She works at VW main dealer :whistle2:)

"Exceeds or meets the requirements of..."
is the manufacturer claiming it's suitable.
A self certification .

" Approved " is sample submitted at huge cost for testing to gain approved specification .

The only things you miss out on by using a Non Audi dealership are the checks for any updates and the entry in to the Audi system that identifies service work.

I think most intend getting Audi to do the oil change but to compare the prices should you supply the oil.
