Has anyone used either of the 2?

I sealed my old Audi A1 with Carbon Collectives Platinum Paint around 2 years ago and I was lucky to get a year out of it with weekly washing. Seen each of these 2 can protect for up to 2 years with regular maintainance, I'm just looking for something that's easy to clean, beads well and prevents swirl marks.

Not sure how good of a measure it is, but I've started looking at the hardness rating of the ceramic coatings to help me decide. My logic being that the harder the ceramic, the less likely I am to induce swirls. Obviously things like ease of application, hydrophobic properties and gloss levels also play a role.

Looking at Gyeon it quotes a hardness of 2H (Mohs scale) per coat. So imagine 2 coats would give you a coating with the equivalent of 4H hardness? Cant find any information on Quartz?

In the end I went with ECO Shield because it quotes 8.5H, and I struggled to find other ceramics in that range. I've been told application is easy and gloss looks good.

Hmmm that's put a spanner in the works, did you get someone to apply it for you or have you not applied it yet since you mention you've been told application is easy?

It sounds good the fact you can use it on all surfaces including glass so at least you're not buying several products, I'll do a bit more digging on ecoshield, sounds promising :friends:

Yea haven't got round to applying it yet so maybe hold fire until I do...! Friend of mine told me about it and I've seen it on his White S5 and a video of it on a Sepang R8 he helped with as well.

I'm renting a garage to apply it since, like with most ceramics, you need it to stay dry while it cures. Also want to make sure my paint correction is spot on using all the LED lights to check it properly. Planned to do it last Saturday but too much rain so hoping it stays dry this Sat! According to my mate, you just apply it with the applicator all over, leave it 20mins or so, then buff off with the MF towel provided. Thats the most important stage I think, since if you leave any residue or buffing marks it will be there for quite a while! I plan on doing two coats

They are about the same I think, although I see more detailers using Gyeon than Cquartz. I have a car in tomorrow having Cquartz UK edition on metallic red. I still prefer the Kamikaze coatings overall tbh.

Yea Kamikaze looks great. Trying to read their website alone has made me a fan...! lol

I have CQuartz Finest on my car which was pro detailer applied. It's still lasting well 18 months on. It's had two topups with Reload and I do 1 in 3 washes with Reset shampoo. It still beads up well. A photo after the last Reload topup in December:

Haha, yes broken English but very good products. I'll be getting some detailer only Kamikaze coatings in the near future that look fantastic.

Two coats do not increase the hardness, just the thickness of the applied layer.
The hardness of a material is the surface hardness of that material, irrespective of the thickness.

Be wary of too thick a coat as it can affect its ability to cure. Try it where you cant see it first, like inside a door shut area.

A complete change of plan but I've found a company somewhat local to me (mint detailing in falkirk) that uses ecoshield products, upon enquiring he recommended some Www.igreenlover-uk.com IGL products that sound pretty decent...so I've given it the go ahead and booked in for the 22nd.
Spec list:

Changed the fabric protectant to leather and also sealing carpets. Interior windows sealed with the same stuff as the outside also, 10% discount for travel expenses also :rockwoot:

Looks good, but ECO Shield is a different product from a German manufacturer called Liquid Elements (http://liquidelementsuk.co.uk/collections/protecting/products/eco-shield-ceramic-coating).

Hope it goes well!
It was ecoshield I wanted to use originally! Hence why I contacted this detailer with a few questions as to the quality of the product and before I know it he's booked me in for a full protection with a different product :whistle2: will look gleaming regardless.
