Managed to swap out my car for a 61 plate A3 Quattro Diesel 170. Most impressed, comfortable, handles like a dream, good fuel consumption, I do a 90 mile round trip to work each day and get 52 mpg showing. It is quick as well, deceptively so.

A couple of things though.

The invoice says that it was fitted with an additional USB port when it was first delivered new but I'll be damned if I can find it, any ideas where it might be?

I get a slight vibration at around 55 to 60 mph, the tires have been balanced but it is still there, very slight but definitely there. Last time I felt something like this it was a bent drive shaft on a Mondeo. Any thought on this?

Thanks

Enjoy your Quattro mate.
The USB could be a floating cable under the dash in the centre console or in the glovebox, also may have dropped out the back of the glovebox. Small vibrations on Quattros is quite common and can be hard to cure, there's a lot possible causes and trying to cure it can be very expensive. Have a small one on mine but live with it ok.

Cheers, time for a rummage in the glove box then. It must be there somewhere.

As for the vibration I can live with it, just need to drive faster or slower so I don't feel it

That's a great excuse for the coppers I had to drive this fast because of the vibration lol

You think vibrations are bad? You should hear my diff, Makes a lonely loud rumble around 2k if you floor it, But I'll live with it, Now paying 1k to fix a sound :D

I bought a 2010 A3 Quattro In November with just 26k on it and mine had a vibration that started around 60 mpg and more noticeable in 5th and 6th gear. It was something to do with the donut shaped damper on drive shaft thing running to the rear of the car. Luckily mine was under warranty but it cost over £1k to fix. You can buy the damper as an aftermarket part though for about £200 but as it was under warranty it had to be an Audi part.

No more vibration :)

I got my 170 mapped a month back. Absolutely loving the 206 bhp now and ive had 58mpg on my 22 mile commute to work on A Roads.

Where did you get the remap done, and what kind of price is it?

Revolution motorsport up on Gateshead near Newcastle. They had a 20% off discount on. Think it worked out at £240.

More more usable midrange power and economy is then same if not better when just cruising.

That's interesting to know. Did it feel like the wheels were out of balance? By coincidence mine is a 2010 Quattro with 28k miles also bought in November.

No it drove fine it just made a vibration at around 2 to 2.5k rpm that you could hear and feel. It came from behind the rear seat area.

I have a 07 Quattro and shortly after i bought it i noticed a vibration and took it back to the dealer,
eventually they figured out that both of the back alloys were slightly bent !
So after replacement wheels (18 inch vescas)
Problemen solved !

And my USB port is in the glove box top front
