Santa Pod - January 31st

10% chance of precipitation between now and 1500 according to the met office, rising to 20% at 1600 .
Wind direction is WSW which is almost a headwind so not very good conditions really.

I was 4 cars back when a scooby dumped it's coolant so session was ended. :(

Be good to hear/see results.

Sad to hear the 500 never went down.

APR vs revo tune wise for them
Sorry to hear you didn't get a run mate, extremely unfortunate circumstances it sounds like....... Especially after the long wait. Lesson learnt on my behalf........... Wait for a guaranteed dry day ha ha

What time did you guys run in the end?

13.47, which considering I no.1 missed the green light and no.2 felt like my wheels were going nowhere on the start line I was half happy about, not to sure bout 73pop but am sure he'll post his time soon.

Would've been so much better if they were running two lanes and you could've seen them go side by side

I never waited to get my time one run then I was off like Jesse in his Jetta.
How can you find out don't think I did to well if I am honest. My speed warning went of set to 90. First thing I thought was I had blown something!!

How can to find out?

That's a bummer pal. They where giving them scoobies some hammer with the revs warming them up!

Would rather have safe power!
Never going there again unless guaranteed sunshine. Good experience tho.

Sorry to hear about the day guys, I did fear this would be the case (I know Pod too well unfortunately :gun2:).

Are you manual I take it James? What trap speed did you guys run in the end?

BTW, the green light is merely a tool for when racing the guy next to you. The timer doesn't start until you move mate, so you could of sat there 10 minutes and still get a good time. :racer:

I can say one thing I got from yesterday .

I think I need to go again, the adrenalin/excitement when I was near the front n ready to go was addictive.
God knows how giddy I'd of been after a run :sign omg:

It is good mate, that is for sure. I would of been going through an entirely different set of emotions if that was me though having been so many times and not feeling the nerves so much. To get that close after a day queuing must of been soooo frustrating!?!?!?

Trapped 101, with dsg not manual, first time down so didn't realise green light was just for that reason, definetely a buzz though....... Had my helmet in the boot ready for my next run as was expecting to be doing 130 ha ha maybe not.

13.7 @ 101mph from a Stage 1 S3?!?!?! You sure mate? No offence, but that is way off where you should be. Stock cars run high 12's @ around 105/6mph.
I know it was your first and only run, but your trap speeds should still be up there, unless you braked early or something?

I was thinking that, can you post your time sheet?

Did you use launch control?

May of been wind & adverse condition that slowed it all down

Was launch control used ??

no idea mate am going off what 73pop ( behind me in que ) saw flash up, running revo stage two too so if those are stock times then I need to get my *** back down n give it another go........ One thing for sure I definitely didn't brake too early as I kept going n going n then thought **** i better brake it looks like the end! Next time there's a guaranteed dry day I'll be there n hopefully get a few runs in so I'll know exactly where it's at.

In that case I would be amazed if that was the case mate, something isn't right somewhere. Shame you never got your ticket :blue:

Wind won't of helped, but not to that degree. Is James definitely mapped? Mapped cars usually see 112mph at least.
I thought the same mate ( hense my helmet! ) definetely mapped, got revo stage 2 full turbo back exhaust, downpipe n vwr600 intake on it. Might of been one of those days, roll on the next dry one!

I think the time/speed details may of been muddled up some how (will wait for 73pop to confirm) as you should be in the 11's ideally (low 12's in yesterday's conditions) at around 113-4mph IMO.
I shall be heading down in Feb, so would be good to re-arrange the day guys?

Track was still wet as I was spinning off the start. Didn't wait for sheet had to get back to clithero to pick little boy up, 2 hours late with all the messing.

Didn't you get your time slip?

As said you must of been going faster than 101. I ran an 11.97 @ 114 in my stage 1 DSG R so with stage 2 and good mods you should be breaking 11's, but it sounds like it wasn't the best conditions for setting good times yesterday.

It was 12.47 you getting confused with scooby.
Well that's a start.. ha ha. Plus without LC that's not bad at all really - although LC is a must if running on the 1/4 mile and wanting the best time.

What trap speed did James get mate, do you remember?

Also James did Audi not tell you you're tyres where getting low? Weekend before if that makes any difference

I wouldn't worry about the times I am sure yesterday was not a good day for this.
The track won't have had the best grip from the lack of running and the fact that it had recently been raining. certainly doesn't help . I have been there in the past in my Passat in those conditions and couldn't get near times I had previously run and my car only had a terminal speed of around 93mph.
The WSW wind shown on the weather forecast is pretty much a headwind at Santa Pod.If it's only 10 mph that adds to your cars drag and the faster you go the more drag you get.
There was a thread on here recently with a Unicrorn S3 at Santa Pod.
http://www.audi-sport.net/xf/thread...age-1-drops-into-the-11s.242493/#post-2433967
It ran 6 times and the times varied from a 11.97 to 12.79 all with a similar trap speed of 111-114mph.
If you didn't use launch and it was your first time, You will go a lot better on a better day getting it all correct.

Yeh true mate they're ready for changing, think all round I'll be better prepared next time. Gonna start practising my launch controls on way home..... Oh no that's right I can't as I'm in mi girlfriends 1.6 mini ha ha

Anyone fancy Pod this Sunday seeing that last time being a wash out pretty much? Weather looks decent this WE.
