This maybe a daft question but I'm struggling with removing the engine under tray.

It's not like any try I've removed before, around the wheel edges there's 3 plastic fittings that don't want to budge, they look like push in fittings, I've tried pooping them out but there staring to crack the tray from the force, also I'm guessing there should be screws around the front connecting it to the bumper but there's nothing.

Think I'm going to have to jack the car up and get underneath and have a proper go.

Pooping :congratulatory:

Haha Yeh but your original post was funnier!
I think they actually do a half turn to get them out. They have a big slot in them don't they?

the fasteners under the engine bay that hold it up are known as " dzus fasteners" and are a twist on/off fitting ( my duke uses them all over the bodywork etc) , the three in each wheel arch are a quarter turn fastener, just turn it a quarter turn to release them , be carefull as when old they will just break off or worse still the back part will break, don't buy from audi as they are stupid money each, lots on fleabay for afraction of the cost.

No guys the one on the engine under tray are round headed with no groves etc, they kind of look like upper bumper fittings, the ones where they have the hole in the middle where you insert a solid plastic peg. That make sense? There's no visible way of removing them.

I think they've been bodge on as the front side fittings are also cable tied haha.

if its been bodged you will need these then.
black fixing go together in pairs, 3 sets per wheel arch , the silver dzus type fasteners go together in pairs for under tray fixing thats all you should need.

Think I know what you mean, round black thing with a small black peg in the middle. The small peg pushes in slightly then the big part pulls out with the small peg hanging in (hopefully)

Yeah that's it mate. Can't under stand why'd these would be used in the under side.

Right Quattro so for the under tray I need the silver fixings? The wheel arches are fine mate they have standard fittings?

Was hoping the under tray fittings would just be torx based screws as I've got a full oem kit in the shed from when I did the s3. May just remove the tray and redo the fittings to the ones I have.

yep, the silver fixing are a twist and lock fastener with a flat screwdiver slot on the head, the holder clip just slides over the bumper part or whatever is being cclipped together, they are not proper dzus as they have a small handle on top so you can undo them by hand, i replaced the slot head ones my avant with proper dzus fasteners i use on my duke as i have lots spare, also easier than using a screwdriver.
