Going to be starting some work on Arnold the drift A4 (2.8) soon, and I've got a sneaky feeling one of the first things on the list will be clutch! . . Mainly cos bite is mm's from the top as it is, which is unlikely to bode well with the sort of abuse it'll be getting on the drift track!

So obviously looking for something with a slightly more positive bite... Don't want to spend mega buck at all! Tis a seriously budget project.

I'm guessing a S4 clutch (or something) is going to be the go to?... What are the OE SMF options, anything off the VAG shelf or are the only options aftermarket?

Any input appreciated as always! Thanks

they all bite right at the top, thats just how they are.

Not really sure what the clutch options for the normal V6 are, but i'd imagine any of the S4 bits should fit as the block is essentially the same?

Look on 034 Motorsport website, they List a few clutches, some are based on rs4 b5 pressure plate and SMF...
Essentially the b5 v7 uses a 5 speed 01E gearbox with a 240mm clutch which is plenty good enough for the power of the engine. Alternately, you could look at TTV Racing flywheels, they also have SMF available for VAG engines. Get in touch with them as they build custom parts too, all you have to do is send the flywheel/clutch combo you want to fit and they will make a flywheel to suit...

Thanks for the replies... Had a quick look on 034, would really rather avoid spending $1000 if I can though!

I read somewhere that you can use a SMF from an Audi 90 or 100, the information was a bit vague though. Does anyone know a bit more about this?

I imagine the standard clutch is probably fine, its bigger than the 1.8T, and yet doesnt have all that much more power.

If you wanted to upgrade i'd imagine a complete S4 clutch/flywheel will bolt right on? You might need to add the gearbox spacer from an S4 though.

The Audi 90/100 stuff exists for the 4 cylinders, no idea if theres an equivalent conversion for the V6 though.
