Hi Guys,

Didn't want to start a new thread but need to replace my front brake pads on the S3 (std brakes) and wanted some suggestions based on experience.

I know loads of people rave about Ferodo DS2500's and I am tempted but not sure on the cost and I don't drive on the track, so looking for suggestions of pads which are better than oe but for half the price or cheaper than the ferodos, also would prefer keeping the wear sensor but also not an issue.

I for some reason find it hard to take EBC seriously, tempted by black diamond but not sure they are any good on the S3, not sure on which model pads from brembo, Tarox, Pagid are any good?

An 8P 8V RS3 is a very serious car and many use EBC Redstuff for the road , low dust , Amen .

Hi, I went for the Mintex m1144 all round and found them to be a decent upgrade over standard with no fade but do squeak a bit on light pressure around town.

Yea im needing to replace my discs all round and also get some decent cheap pads.
I get a discount at euro car parts so will buy from there.
Any advice on best discs to get and also pads( supplied by ecp)
Then in the future will get porsche big reds :)

Find someone in the car trade to get you them with their discount.

My mechanic brother just got me Pagid discs and pads all round for £128 from eurocarparts for my S3.

Yea will do.
Also how much brake fluid needed for full flush /bleed?
And pagid dot 4 sufficient??

I bought pagid discs all round with EBCUltimax front pads, i havent fitted the fronts yet but the discs are coated to prevent corrosion. Alternatively standard mintex oem kits are a cheap replacement with low dust, performance gains are minimal.

That Pagid silver paint is a token gesture and won't protect it from anything , let alone rust .

My brother got some Autoglym wheel cleaner on the silver paint and it blistered straight away .

I sprayed my Pagid disc centers from new a few days before fitting with black smooth Hammerite , I didn't even key the surface and 2+ years later they are still perfect .

With the Pagid's it's no different than a quick spray of wheel silver onto bare metal .

Said Autoglym wheel cleaner reaction .

I would advise against painting the mating surfaces on brake disks etc... the heat from the brakes softens the paint and can lead to the wheels bolts slackening off...

I have seen this a few times and experienced it myself when I painted the bells on my fronts...

Just mask off the area where the wheel face touches the disc and paint around that

<tuffty/>

Worked for EBC for 11 years and was a test car for the new redstuff, really can recommend them for the low dust and good bite, no fading either. Currently got Yellowstuff all round on my Mapped PD170 but it's a bit over kill, might go back to reds, don't work there anymore so I'm not biased lol, again would recommend redstuff for all 8P's

You know Bart then !

Yellows are better for higher up the temperature range but not a huge difference and less than Bluestuff .

Yellows are very dusty so Red everytime.

I always fit them to front and rear .

Think il leave the rears and spend the extra money on the ebc redstuff pads for the front.
Recommendations on brake fluid?

Cheers for the suggestions, I'll prob end up with the ferodos but tempted by the brembos, been a bit busy, need to sort my insurance 1st this week then i'll stop being indecisive and order a set.

Is it normal or ok that the pads on the inner side of the discs seems to have worn a lot more than the ones on the outside?
