Greeny's New Motor

You have to do a bit of extra wiring to get the heated rear screen working from a B7 unit in a B6.

Another little update today. Managed to get hold of an original replacement electric window switch unit to replace my peeling and worn one.

I just need to find a good centre consol now and the handle that surrounds the window switches in the door handle and the interior will be up to scratch or lack of scratches :)
This is the part number of the door handle piece if anyone has a good one

Well as you can imagine the fuel consumption the S4 around town is pretty poor but, the top half of the tank has been disappearing really quickly. I'm off down south tomorrow so I decided to brim the tank today and I noticed that from when the pump stops (gauge also reads full) when the tank is full to the tank actually being full to the brim is 10litres! It stopped at £16 and I managed to get it to £26 and even that wasn't full to the top of the filler neck. So hopefully I'll get a bit more from the tank range now.

Aye, probably another 2.5 miles!

Until you find a new handle you could remove the remaining anti slip coating. Baby wipes do a good job of removing it without damaging the plastic underneath.

Finally made a decision on what size and fitment of wheels I'm going for. I'm going to order a set of Bola CSR wheels in silver 9x18 ET38. I've only just had 4 new tyres fitted to the original wheels so I'll stick with 18's and with H&R springs it should sit quite nice.
Here's a picture from the Bola website of an S4 with CSR's in black.

So I picked up a Pioneer SDH DA120 head unit today to replace the Symphony 2 unit in the car now. I've been pulling my hair out trying to find a definitive answer to which wiring harness adapter I would need. I couldn't find a 100% answer so I went for a PC9-404/9-410 and I have got it working with this but it isn't very pretty and requires extra wires running for the Amp and Radio antenna. The sound quality is far far better and the Apple Car Play is great too. I have managed to now find a company in the States (Enfig) that can supply a complete "Plug and Play" harness which requires no cutting or adding ignition or permanent live wires. As soon as I have it fully installed I'll get some pics and maybe a video up.
Heres a youtube video of an install on a Bose Symphony 2 A4.

New Pioneer CarPlay head unit fitted. Really happy with the unit, the sound quality is much better and all the amps and antennas work too, which is nice.

Looks good.. even the fascia around the edge match up nicely..
What r u doing with ur old symphony 2 unit?

Very Nice Greeny Congrats.

The V8 B6 is easily one of the best sounding engines ever. Ive heard a few full De-cat S4 B6's which are sweet sweet music to my ears.
Not sure you're going for that craziness though lol.

The picture does the facia more justice than it should get, its just a cheap ebay one and its pretty much just black. More to come on the replacing it for something better very soon. Open to offers on the old Symphony 2 head unit. It's in great condition with no wear on the buttons.

Today I got the wiring a Facia fitting kit from Enfig Audio in the states. I ordered it Wednesday last week and it arrived today, fantastic service. The wiring kit is amazing literally plug and play, it comes with a new head unit specific loom which connects direct into the smart unit and then into the car, new cage and mounting brackets and a really nice facia panel which makes the head unit look more inter grated than any other aftermarket facia I've seen. I also managed to get my ashtray dock connected up so there are no wires showing.

Never been a fan of the silver trim around the windows on a silver car so I plasti dipped all the window surrounds and the boot trim. Not sure if I'll do the roof bars or just leave them so they tie in with the mirror caps. I will be doing the wheels as well at some point. It's a very satisfying job especially peeling the excess dip off.

Fitted my new headlight washer today. Managed to remove the old one and refit new one without having to remove the bumper. All I had to do was remove the headlight and use a slightly cut down torques allen key. Hopefully the washer fluid won't run out every five minutes now due to the missing jet.
Also used the last of my plasti-dip to paint the grille badge.

Great thread Greeny...& lovely motor

Thanks. Slow but steady progress.

My V5 has finally turned up so I can transfer my private plate on. Got some plain and simple pressed plates. Suspension will be the next big mod. Just going for H&R springs this time and I'm thinking off keeping the standard wheels, fitting some spacers and plasti dipping them.

Did you have to remove window surrounds to plasti dip or just leave them on car??

I just left them on, I'm not sure the rear window trims are removable without removing the glass. If your planning on doing it mask everything off really well, I'm still finding over spray all over the place and the overspray isn't that easy to remove.

Hi greeny, where did u get Ur interior led's from? Think it's about time I upgrade my lighting..

Hi Jim. I bought an ebay complete kit, it consisted of 20 LED's but I wasn't happy with the brightness of some of the bulbs so I got some from Halfords as well.

Id read a few reviews on some of the ebay kits, i wasnt convinsed by the claims of zero errors,, I ended up getting In touch with T8ups on here, brought a complete interior set, side lights and number plate. Also purchased a pair of Ring H7 ultimate off of Amazon.. :) I'm hoping that'll improve the average night vision I have currently..

Always a nice touch, 'de-chroming' the car. Look clean.
Looking forward to more stuff to come from you as always :)

The only problem I had was with the doors. I have the red lights in the end of the doors and also the kerb light underneath but if I replaced both lights with LED none of the door lights worked but with just one LED in the kerb lighting it was fine.

The new one came from an RS4, the only difference is there is no 'off' button, it has a recirculation button with an 'A' (not sure what it does),

Cars coming on very well.

The A button is for Automatic Air Recirculation, ie it senses the air quality and recirculates it if it senses pollution.

Yes mate, used your link. Very happy with them, great match with the OE HID's and easier to fit than HID's.

No mod's lately, think i'll order a set of springs on payday, I've had the gopro out for an up coming skiing trip so thought i'd record a quick video of the S4.

Also a couple of pics of the LED fog light bulbs at night. Due to me messing up the order I have a spare set of H11 LED fog light bulbs and resistors if anyone is interested £20 inc postage.

So when I got the S4 it had a Parrot hands free but someone had super glued it to the dash ( ) above the cup holder which when I removed the Parrot the super glue stayed on the trim. I decided to try and remove the glue using super glue remover, a word to the wise DO NOT use it on plastic trim, as the remover has not only removed the glue but has melted the plastic underneath, so I've now had to order a new panel from Audi. Fortunately it's only £22+vat.
Here's what the glue remover did

Guess ur lucky they didn't glue it to the dash itself. Someone had stuck a magnetic phone holder to mine, lucky a bit of heat from a hairdryer and it came off without leaving a mark, wasn't so lucky with the second phone holder someone had screwed to the centre console. So what's next on ur list?
