Just want to no what u guys think of the gearbox delays?

Not from guys who are running there's in though as wouldn't no what I mean. Only happens when flooring it.

I am making sure it's not just mine! Hence asking

I feel the clutch rides a fair few times now. Mainly when slowing down to a traffic light on red and if turns green while rolling if I floor it the car revs right up and doesn't move then 2 secs later the gearbox catches it..

Also between gears there is a delay when flooring it.

But the main concern is that clutch riding. Did it 10 mins ago when slowing down while a bus was pulling in I then floor it and it's like the response from the throttle to the gearbox is like a 2 sec delay. But engine revs right up while waiting for the gearbox to engage.

Anyone else noticed any problems like this with yours.

Mine does all of this. The box is definitely not perfect.

So happy u said that lol

Guess will just have to live with it then just worrying if I keep flooring it and that clutch keeps riding after a good few miles it may start messing up the gearbox or even clutch may start to slip constantly :(

Mine doesn't ride the clutch often even to worry me too much, the 2 things that are annoying are the jerky upshift, usually 1st>2nd even under low load (does it 1 in 50 shifts), and if you happen to floor it as it down-shifts and is doing the clutch riding thing, it has the 2 sec delay you speak of, and I'm not sure why it doesn't just dump the clutch as it should never take 2 seconds to engage the next gear - the bonus is the revs raise so when it does dump the clutch you really do go! It probably does the botched downshift/clutch ride/floor it thing 1 in 100 times I'm in a scenario that might produce it.

So while they are annoying glitches, neither are happening often enough to bother me hugely.

+1

just used to it now, happens very rarely and i think just when you catch the box changing and you put throttle on at the wrong point. no biggie for me, maybe a recalibration at audi might fix?

I guess a good reason not to remap or tune until this issue has been identified or resolved as it may create longevity issues later down the line which would then highlight any tune.

However if not affecting reliability it may just become a 'characteristic' of these Uber hatches :)

definitely it is improving with kilometers, in my case 8000km and it is better than new.

how many kilometers or miles have you done with your rs3?

this DSG reminds me of my 2008 R36.

Audi has not evolved this DQ500 , the S3 DQ250 is better by far.

regards

I'm at 1800 miles (~2900km) and it seems about the same as the day it was new.

Yeah I know what you all but TBH it's not overwhelming enough to be an issue, although I have learnt to understand the timing on when to anticipate a specific action to prevent any time delay.....and by that I mean when flooring it.

Infact I was thinking about the pedal box to supplement the DTUK box to possibly minimise further?!? But as I said not really an issue for me personally.

I also think there could/should be a quick software update to solve this from Audi as my last RS3 didn't have this feature as pronounced, albeit minimal.

Cheers

Mine only uses abit of clutch, if you floor it from a standing start in 1st ( and youre not using LC), you can watch it raise the revs to like 2500-3k and then let out the clutch, to get on boost... never noticed it elsewhere.

Sounds pretty similar to mk1.
When I got mine I was sure it wasn't right but after being at the dealer several times it appears to be the norm.
Depends how I drive as I can go a week or so and not notice it and other times it annoys the hell out of me.
I find it when slowing for a roundabout or junction then you see it's clear it happens.

For sure it's most apparent in the gentle slowing and then sudden acceleration scenarios - stands to reason I guess as the car is asked to go from smooth slowing so gentle clutch inputs etc and then the complete opposite and it takes a second to realise you just went to the other extreme.

Once you know when it's going to happen you adapt your throttle input which almost eliminates it.
As you say the car doesn't know what your going to do next and manages best it can.

I have never experienced this on mine.

Do bear in mind that the gearbox is 'learning' for the first 1000 miles or something

You would hope it learns to not do this!
