Afternoon all, has anyone on here had any experience with the Mercedes C class coupe or saloon.
I will be in a position over the coming months to change my car and am seriously thinking of retiring the old Avant, she has been a great car and a labour of love to me and if you see my sig she has had plenty of cosmetic mods done and on a mechanical front has had everything done to it. Sadly yesterday the condenser gave up (2nd one)and although not a big job she needs some paint work done now which will be up around the £900 mark. I am so torn whether to sell, break or spend a bit more on her to get it back up to a nice standard, the interior is very nice with unmarked leather and no scratches on anything. My next choice will be a straight fight between the Mercedes C class coupe or saloon CDI AMG sport or the A4 B8 black edition saloon. I have never owned a Merc but am drawn by the level of spec from factory.
So if anyone can offer any insight on the Mercedes that would be great.

I know Mercedes are good cars and the equipment is cutting edge but I just don't like the styling!
Audi all the way for me bud. If I was given a Mercedes I would sell it and buy an Audi.

All down to personal taste really.

I have tried many brands, but it has always floated between VW and Audi for me........most of my mates are BMW nuts, but BMWs do nothing for me.

BMW are not for me either, a very good car but just don't float my boat as you say.My vehicle needs would point me towards the A3 although I am not a fan of that either there is just far too many of them .I love the Audi brand just don't like their very low spec from factory, I may just have to keep searching for one in the spec I want. I have a decent budget for one but I don't want to start pulling it apart for mods.

Hi Matty Boy.

Before my current B6 Cabriolet, i had a 2002 C class Merc for 8 years. It was a 1.8 with 122BHP. Certainly not a rocket Ship but didnt let me down not EVER. Not once! It just needed the usual things a car would need with absolutely nothing out of the ordinary. The car was practically bullet proof. My Auntie had the next gen W204 and also had the same experience. Cant comment on the very latest but my experiences were good.

Why did I sell it?! The car was boring and getting very dates plus no Turbo ha.

I hope this helps. Any specific questions..let me know.

Dan.

Thanks for your reply, I am going to have a test drive in a C250 coupe CDI AMG sport plus, spec wise it has all I want and if I can find one with a pan roof that will be a bonus. I know very little about Merc and to be honest I don't want to go trolling forums to read bad things, I fancy a change and I don't need a sensible car as we have a 4x4 for the family clunker. The one thing I do have is time, I am fitting a new condenser to the Audi tomorrow and if I end up having the wing painted to get it back up to scratch, that's no drama. I'll have a go in the Merc and see haw I get on.

Pleasure.

Based on your requirements, I dont think you can go wrong. Im sure the c250 Diesel will have enough poke and be good on petrol at the same time. Yes, one with a panoramic roof will be a lovely bonus. Sitting inside one before with a pan roof..they are so high-end feeling.

You will not be disappointed with the ****-pit overall..or I feel with the car for that matter.

If I can offer my own personal but humble advice, i'd say, simply be patient and hold out for what you want. I waited for around 6months for my current cabriolet as I was after specifically the '1.8T quattro. If you have time, you will get what you want.

Hope the search goes well.

Yes, my Audi also needs a lick of paint too to bring it up to 'showroom' finish. Cant have anything less now can we?! :p

I will be having the paint work done on mine as I have a supposed buyer for it as and when I want to shift it on, he wants it with all the mods and is happy to pay what I consider to be a fair price but I can't let it go with the wing like it is. I think he is in for a long wait though as I won't be buying anything unless it has the spec I want. I feel the Mercedes will be a stop gap as I will probably end up back in a Audi Avant at some point but right now I don't need another mobile wardrobe. :tongueclosed:

Yes that sounds wise. Plus im sure emotionally you wont want to let it go unless its in the condition you are satisfied with.
Absolutely, wait for the spec you want and dont settle.

Haha! Since being on here, you Avant owners have made me slightly fall in love with the B6/B7 wagons. Perfect for a little family.

A stop gap seems fair! I can say that coming from Mercedes! :)
