Has anyone had the electric window motor fail on their A3, window wont go up or down, there is a clicking noise comming from the motor when the switchis operated, the car is a 2000 (X) facelift 5 door A3.
It could be the clips but they tend to lift the window cockeyed. It souds like there is something jamming the windows totally and so the motor cant turn, or the motor is knackered.
I think the only way is to remove the window gall and see if the motor moves then. If not it will give you a better idea of whats going on.
I had to change the lifting mechanism last week. The motor was working but you heard a clicking noise which is the mechanism moving about with a broken cable. Take the door card off and see if the cable has snapped - if it has the replacement is about £80.00 from Audi. as you have to buy the whole unit without the motor. The motor has 3 or 4 bolts holding it on. Its easy to remove and if you keep the connections in place it is easy to test.
It took me about 5 hours to replace as Audi uses ****** rivets which are a pain to remove and replace.
