Thanks to Alexei, the owner of a gorgeous Sepang blue 8P, for the VCDS mods at today's TW Audi meet!
A mate of mine drove their RS3 demo and my car back to back and said the two were pretty even. I'm happy with that!

The 2 VCDS mods I want to do most, I spend too much time looking at my lap timer

Looking very smart batch..Just a quick question....The front and rear parking mod..Will this work if I have aftermarket non oem sensors fitted??

Hi mate, I don't have front - only rear. Unfortunately I couldn't tell you, have you got them working through the car or a completely separate system? @leshkin might be able to advise...
By the way I've not forgotten about your offer for my tailpipe trims! I'll message you soon!

Not sure about this - I think it depends on the system and whether it is integrated with the OEM setup. Setting this up on @batch 'es S3 was a doodle once we figured out where it was in VCDS. The only sure way would be to try it I guess.

It was a pleasure! Its always nice to chat about cars with like-minded people! :)

I'm always looking for an excuse to go out for a drive, so whenever you feel up to hitting the A272 for an early Sunday morning drive or just a meet, I'd probably be up for it :)

Thanks Leshkin..All I need now is some one in my area who has vcds...I have looked on the vcds map and the only person close to me was last on the forum about four years ago???:friends:

Am assuming you guys aren't too far from Sussex then. Might see you around but as yet I haven't.

I had a stage 1 tune by QST on my 8P @batch, how did you find them for your cantronic?

Morning mate!
I had a very pleasant experience over there - they are about 40mins from me, I went down and had a coffee whilst I waited for my slot. Then the technician invited me through to the workshop to watch him fit the box, and talk me through any of the little quirks, such as the clamps being a bit tight sometimes, and how to route the wiring.
Only thing I couldn't manage was a dyno run as Kim was away, would have really liked that but perhaps I can persuade him to run it up for me another time...!

Not convinced by rotors on an 8V... Hmmmm!

I like the RS3 rotors but I'm not changing wheels. Just dropped two off to Diamond Styling for a wee bit of TLC!

Bearing in mind a car has four wheels, how has MRS B managed to do FIVE of them??
:tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:

Look on the bright side mate at least you got to try out the rotors........................err, was gonna say for free but somehow I reckon 5 diamond edge repairs probably won't be!! lol

Two done already, FOC, as the NSF one was damaged on delivery and they forgot to replace it. So I negotiated with them to have both NS wheels refurbished instead of keep waiting for a new wheel!

In other news, my CTS inlet elbow (TIP) finally arrived today after a Royal Mail f**k up. Thought I'd give it a go straight away as it seemed fairly straightforward so I set about dismantling the old assembly...

Image

Was very surprised to find the OEM elbow had LOADS of play in it! The Torx screw that holds it on doesn't actually play any part in keeping it tight to the turbo - this is done by two lugs on the elbow which locate under metal jaws on the compressor housing. However, the Torx screw was wobbly - bad enough to be able to be wobbled (not just turned!) by hand and the whole assembly was moving freely! Would any people more in the know than me (without getting my thinking cap on!) be able to tell me if an air leak here could affect the performance?

Image

Took me less than ten minutes, bonnet open to bonnet closed, with thanks to @Rob2k68 for the support during the job!
Had a quick spin - much more punchy and lively! Not sure it's much louder but not ideal conditions as it was so wet that all I could hear was sloshing of tyres. Hopefully the improvement in response is more down to the component than fixing the leak?
All in all a nice easy job, took no time at all. Happy days!

Now for this...

Air leak proximal to the turbo may interfere with air metering as its adding to air already metered by the MAF.

That's what I thought but couldn't remember where the MAF is on the MQB cars. Happy days!

It may of caused some disturbance in the flow of air but I'd say you will be ok! Definitely better now you have changed the standard part lol

Oh yes, hundred percent! Wasn't too worried about it being dangerous - as it's not after a MAF there's no unmetered airflow. That would have worried me - running lean on a remapped turbocharged engine!
Bug has definitely bitten me now, I'm SO close to pulling the trigger on a Cobra DP with Sportcat...

Let us know how you get on with the CTS turbo inlet pipe @batch , considering taking the punt as I'd love (even more) intake noise and would never say no to more power, its just the postage cost from USA which is a killer and putting me off slightly!

I recently bought direct from CTS and even with postage it was cheaper than UK CTS stockist quotes I was given and arrived in 6 days. To be fair was very close to the quote from PSI Tuning but they were a good few weeks away from having stock.

This is also a pretty good looking alternative removing the restrictive elbow at the turbo and a very gradual reducing bore plus it incorporates the silicon intake hose :-

Ok, so had a proper thrash last night. The car feels crazily quick, much less subtle in power delivery than before, and more responsive. I'm starting to notice a nice whine on spool-up - like an angry cat! - a gorgeous squelch when I lift off or change gear slowly, and my mate even provoked a monster wastegate chatter when he had a spin!
Now I'm totally convinced - but how much of the performance increase is from the kit, and how much is down to rectifiying the loose OEM part?!

@SJ43 give @Brodster a shout on here or contact him via Brotek - he might have a couple left over from the group buy.

That sounds awesome mate, I want one!!!
That is the thing! And I bet thats played on your mind a bit once you fitted it! But either way just looking at the oem part you can see how restrictive it is so theres always going to be an improvement somewhere. Thermofluids, airflow and all that etc

Cheers, I will get in touch:)
