Hello all,

Just after a bit of general advice really. I was involved in a very minor car accident this morning whereby another driver scrape the front off side portion of my bumper scratches and scraping. Fortunately the other driver and their insurance company has accepted liability. However I've not been in this position before and would like a couple of opinions.

The other drivers insurance party (Allianz) have accepted liability and stated that the company they use, auto restore will come round, repair the damage and the costs will be covered by them.

My insurance company (elephant) have explained another option whereby the company they use, Albany assistance, would collect my car and provide a hire car whilst they repair it.

Now looking at reviews auto restore get very good reviews whilst Albany's are somewhat mixed. Issues such as hidden costs for the hire car which they have struggled to recover keep cropping up.

Has anyone been in this situation? Auto restore seem to be the better prospect to go with however I'm concerned that this is not being arranged by my insurance company I won't have any fall back if the work is not up to scratch?

Any thoughts and experience would be greatly appreciated!

Why not ask your own insurance company to arrange the repair with ure choice of repairer .

You could contact Auto Restore and ask them about a satisfaction guarantee.
But a quick look on their website would assure me having read it.

"With our backing from Autoglass® and Belron®, we can offer an unrivalled life-time ownership guarantee. All our repairs are completed to PAS 125 bodyshop standards."

you have the right to take it to a body shop of your choice.
you may need to get 2 or 3 quotes tho.
I would never use a company that comes to me and does any body repair on my drive.

Plus, you will always be able to reject a repair that, in your opinion, is not up to scratch. (Pardon the pun).
Most reputable repair agents will arrange a courtesy car while your's is being repaired nowadays, so you should not be out of pocket or inconvenienced in any way.

Don't let those fuckwits at Elephant anywhere near you car. I have had several dealings with the Admiral group and all have been less than favourable.

I would just deal with the third party's insurance company, if they have admitted liability, or you get a black mark on your own policy come renewal time(though I suspect it's probably on there now already). Take the car straight to the dealer for a warrantied paint repair, not a bodyshop of 'their' choice.
