And well... It had a traction control light up. Told me they'd fix it before selling me the car, A week later. No light and I thought that was great, No issues there until I tried pressing the ESP button. Didn't work, Thought it was strange, Then I found out I had no traction control or ABS....

So I scanned the car...............

00-Steering Angle Sensor -- Status: OK 0000

Lets just say, I called them up and sent them the entire file. Dealer told me he had no idea the work wasn't carried out. Not only that but the light not showing up anymore? Turns out they removed the LED in the dash so it didn't show and carried out no repairs whatsoever, Am pretty sure this breaks a bunch of UK laws here and there picking the car up on tuesday to take it back and "Fix" it. However, I don't really think I'll be going ahead with any of it and just asking for a full refund...

Anyone got a input into this?

They removed the light !!!! ????
Jesus Christ !!!

I'd be demanding a R8 !!!
Take it to the top mate, get Audi uk involved and take em for everything you can !
That's disgraceful !!

When you say, "Dealer", do you mean main dealer, (Audi), or just a car dealer...?
If this was the performance of a main dealer, I think you would be perfectly justified in asking for the most expensive motor in the showroom.
Stuff like this ruins reputations.

Sorry I should have been more clear, It was a car dealer that are "specialist" in VW and Audi.

I made it clear that am within my right to request a full refund for the car anyway, Due to UK law the first 30 days I can return it. It's been about 4 days since getting the car.

What worries me the most is that he said if its going to cost to much to fix he will just sell it to auction and cut his losses which leaves me with no car, Sure I'll get a refund but I fell in love with that audi so fast... but how can the AWD system be so broken, Don't get it...

Make him a silly offer on it and sort it yourself but he's got to make it worth your while for being so sneaky and Basicly ripping you off

I donno. I think its going to be a 1-2k repair bill, I don't even think I could make it work out for me.

What age is the car..?
It could be at best, short on Haldex oil, or at worst, the Haldex controller. (Which can be refurbed for about £250).
There again, if it has that many issues, love the car or not, do you want to be lumbered with that kind of drama.
There will be another car with your name on it - without the grief.

If it was me I'd be spitting nails mate, quite simply they thought they'd mug you off and I'd be furious.

Take it back, give them a piece of your mind and get your money back.

Tossers:gun2:

Trading Standards mate , you might find out they've got a filing cabinet on them .

They are claiming that they do not handle the Audis AWD system as there own garage has no clue about it.

There taking the car back and requesting the garage that undertook the work to redo it. They've said its just the controller for the AWD system that's messy but the missing light in the dash gets me likes, Sounds like the garage scammed the dealership which in turn got me a broken car.

But I've already told them that if I don't get anything sorted in the next few days or hear about it, I will take legal action. Yaay...

The place is just outside glasgow. They sell a "Lot" of audis and VWs.

Shocking!! Wonder how many others have had "bulbs removed"!!!

I would not want a car from them, love the car or not, I would be getting a refund.

I'm going to send you a PM mate.
My son is just about to buy a car from a "garage just outside Glasgow".
I know there are a few, but I want it clarified for my own peace of mind.

Get refund and hunt again. Do not trust them or deal with them further.
If you have the inclination and energy then go to Trading Standards. Otherwise move on and name and shame.

Might be tricky proving who has 'removed' the light. Is it the dealer themselves or is it the garage they thought had done the work. You can guarantee they'll both blame each other for it.

That is shocking ! I would think that the garage you bought it from is responsible, whether they did it or someone working on their behalf . Report them to trading standards ...

Why does he need to prove anything?

I did a bit of investigating, I won't mention the name of the dealer on an open forum, that could jepoardise the O.P.'s case but, the company's reputation is so bad, finance companies will not touch them.
My son very nearly bought that car until he was told not to.

This company is well known for dodgy motors.

:sadlike:

Take it back and get a refund. Search for one that hasn't been tampered with. They are out there.

I think we have a unanimous verdict here. Take the car back and get a refund. There is a much better, genuine car out there for you.

Why does he need to prove anything?

Because there sounds like there's going to be a case to build against either the dealer or the workshop. If it's the dealer that did it then it's good, solid evidence to add, whereas if it's the garage doing it without the dealers knowledge, then the dealer may also be interested in taking some action alongside the OP and might be able to strengthen the argument.
In either case, it helps the rest of us know who to avoid spending our hard earned with.

I would say all in good time lads.
As I said above, it's up to the O.P. when he makes it public, first priority is getting his car sorted and I won't jepoardise that by naming at the moment.

No, the OP sues the person he bought it from. What the people they contracted did(or didn't) is of absolutely no concern to the OP.
To go even further, the OP cannot take any action against the 3rd party even if he wanted to.

So I thought I'd finally update this thread.

Got my Audi A3 back, After being worked on and my god did they hate it. 700 pounds for the haldex control unit plus 300 for labor, Audi hammered them for the work that was carried out on it but it's a brand new haldex box! For free! Am not complaining at all! It also turns out they didn't remove the light and infact the light would not lit while haldex was having issues, I can galdy say that the traction light now turns on with the turn of the key and goes off quickly. ESP button now works, Haldex now kicks in insanely fast.

After this I thought I'd rescan JUST IN CASE.

Just one error code, Compared to the million I had before, Easy fix too I'll be doing it soon.

So all in all, It wasn't that bad... The Audi A3 cost me 6k, 2005, Facelift 78k miles, S line spec with Bose sound system and all that. I found that pretty cheap after searching on autotrader the cheapest 2L TFSI S line on there was around 7k with higher milage, No bose etc so yea. I think overall I lucked out on this, Even gave me a courtesy car and I didn't even need to pay the fuel on it.

I think I jamp the gun abit on the dealer though, I was really "Annoyed" with the issues I had but it was fixed and I have no more complaints. Cheers all :D
