New tyres

The GY F1 Eagle Assy2 is one of the best wet handling tyres on the market, and has one of the most generous rim protectors.

Unfortunately .....

The design of the standard S3 C0Z alloy is such that the outside bead of the tyre sits much more inboard compared with other alloys, that it negates all that generous rim protection that the Goodyears give. :(

(Still better than the Conti's though, in many ways)

I tried that at my local Audi dealer..... who then went on to say, "to some extent" (regarding the price match)..................

I guess it will vary from dealer to dealer.
was unfortunate enough to get a puncture on the way to work last week so phoned into Manchester Audi and asked if I could bring it in. Girl on the phone said yes, and mentioned they price match (without me asking). I asked specifically for PS3's and a couple of hours later (I left the car with them) they phoned me back with a quote of £102 + VAT. Told them I could get them on black circles for £92 incl VAT (special offer on) to which she checked online and then said "no problem, we'll match that".
Couldn't complain at all really, they even got me a taxi into town to work.

No blu tack I promise, it only just balances on there!

Put up your PS3 pic on the standard S3 alloys!

Yes would be good to see how those compare.

Lol yes mine (F1's) are the same with the £1 almost defying gravity - thought I'd ordered the ones without the rim protector at first but so far with what there is it's saved my rear offside alloy from damage.

Black Circles are flogging the Goodyear Eagle F1's for just under £75 a tyre fully fitted at the moment in my area so that's a bit of a bargain at the moment. Bare in mind, that is for 225/45/17's

I took these a while ago, my PS3's don't have the rim protection, I'm not with the car as the wife has it, I'll get one later once I've found the Blutack

Ouch indeed..... I still feel extremely uncomfortable looking at it

Picked up some new tyres for my S3, Michelin PS3's got a really good price £102 fully fitted and to top it off, Michelin are doing an offer till the end of November buy four tyres and get a £50 fuel voucher that will do nicely, i only needed the rears as the fronts still had a couple of millimetres which surprised me, has anybody else found this? But being sensible I had all four done and I'm pleased so far. I got on ok with the Conti's done 20011 miles, which is great mileage compared with some, although I felt the cold grip along with the wet grip was lacking as I always detected wheel spin, so decided to go with the Michelins as I've always had them, I must say tho there is zero rim protection, Amazingly less than the Conti's but this wasn't a major concern as (touch wood) I've never curbed a wheel, in fact I might just carry a plank of wood around with me for the foreseeable future just in case

Thats an extremely good price for PS3's fully fitted I presume, I managed to get mine for £400

I thought the rim protection was a lot better on these than the contis but my street has really high curbs and one lapse of concentration when parking up and ouch just like the photo above, doesnt matter what tyre youve got its never gonna protect your alloy !

Ordered a set of Goodyear eagle f1's...£520 fitted, cheapest I could find anywhere. Got a set of conti's there with 3k on them so hopefully I get a reasonable price back for them

That seems like a hell of a lot for the goodyears, surely you mean £420 fitted not £520 fitted !

Unfortunately not mate! Tried just about every local tyre dealer and mobile tyre fitter £520 was the cheapest and £570 being the most expensive. I'm assuming people who got them in the £300+ mark have 18's?

ah well you shoulda said !

You on 19's ?

Yeh 235 35 R19, hopefully can get rid of the conti's for a reasonable price that will soften the blow

Goodyear Eagle 235/35/19 91 Y XL with Max flange protection and Ferarri approved. £107.50 so £430 for 4 tyres delivered.

https://www.tyreleader.co.uk/car-tyres/goodyear/eagle-f1-asymmetric-2/235-35-r19-91y-392656

I get my tyres fitted and balanced for £10 a go at an independent tyre place locally. so that would work out at £470 all in fitted.
Or you can have the tyres delivered direct to a tyre place and have them fitted there. The prices seem to be around £10- £15 a tyre.

I have used them many times over the last 2 years they are almost impossible to beat on price.

I'm currently running a set of Michelin PS3's which I'm really happy with, but I would like to go for a set of Michelin Pilot Super Sports next. Anyone running these? They're meant to be great tyres but I want them due to aesthetic reasons tbh lol so wanted to weigh up if there was any disadvantages of going to these. Hopefully they will help my wheel spin in 1st and 2nd gears too.

Just as a comparison. Alloygators offer about 2.5 - 3 X £1 coins worth of protection. Here is a pic with 2 then 3 coins.

( sorry cant get them to balance as they are curved )

Hi ! My A3 TDI SB Quattro needs new tyres. It's running factory fit conti sport 18' s. They've done 23,000km which I don't think is too bad. However, I found them to be pretty loud and I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for tyres that might be less noisy? Thanks!

Those that jump ship and swap out the Conti Sport 5's have done so to mainly either the Michelins Pilots / Super Sports or Goodyear Eagle F1's. From these two makes people suggest that the Eagle F1's are a little quieter.

I have recently jumped shipped myself and ordered the latest Goodyear Eagle F1 Asy3 which are a relatively new tyre and the replacement for the F1 Asy2's that others like. I ordered mine on Friday from TyreLeader when the price hit £73. My local place will fit for £10 a corner. I will probably have them fitted this weekend or next.

I noticed that the price fluctuated on almost a daily basis with todays current price from Tyreleader at £80.14. Although even at that price they are a great buy.

Do shop around as the price difference ( fitted price ) I was quoted was close to £45 difference per tyre!!

Thanks thanks very much for the information. I've been checking out the Goodyear Eagles - they seem to be a popular choice. I'd be very interested to hear how you get on with the Asy3 Eagles. That seems to be a very sharp price you got on them - congrats!! Over here in Ireland the cheapest quote I can get for the Asy2 is €220/tyre fitted. However I get mine in Northern Ireland through an independent supplier and he's quoting stg £95/tyre fitted which I think is pretty fair. I'm going to ask him about the Asy3's. Many thanks!

Here is a pic of the Michelin PS3. The rim of the tyre is at an angle so a coin won't sit on its own - hence the sellotape. And yes, my wheels need a wash; as does the car. Overall, rim protection is pretty poor and it looks better in the pic than in real life.

That picture above with the coin on the rim was taken by me on my car. The wheels are Pro Race 1.2 I got them direct from the manufacturers in Birmingham Rimstock. They were made for the car so have the correct bore size of 66.5mm so don't need spigot rings which you normally end up using with aftermarket wheels. Didn't cost any thing extra either to get them the correct size.

I might go back to 18's on my car as I have to buy new tyres anyway and keep the 17's as winter wheels. Benn looking at these from OZ, quite a good price for a good quality lightweight wheel.

https://www.tyreleader.co.uk/alloy-wheels/oz/omnia-1351/

click the dimension tab at the bottom of the page to see all the available sizes. Only available in 17 and 18 inch.
