Tough Times - Change S3 to what??

Yeah much better and found some love for the S3 again.. maybe thats the best way going forward. Go and test drive an "ordinary?" car every so often then it will feel amazing to go back to S3. Haha

Job front.. well where to start. This week at work has been horrific. I had an interview on Monday past but won't find out for another week but i have another interview that looks more hopeful tomorrow evening at 5pm. Closer to home too so less miles and more zzzzz's in the morning. :)

But i am staying positive though as if I don't get a new job then on my extra spare day off per week i am going to resort to being a male escort... easy money...haha

Best of luck mate, something will turn up ;)

So my problem reappeared this morning.. :sob:

To say I am ****** off and gutted is an understatement....

Going to rig up my GoPro and try and film the problem and hopefully get something to give the garage..and to make me not look like a fool with imaginary problems.

Unbelievable!!

So all their state of the art diagnostics found nothing and the fault reappears within 24 hours............................... oh dear :(

I guess putting your own 'evidence' together is about the only thing left Andy. Not good enough though is it.

Yip..they had it for 2 days too and put 20 miles on it doing test runs.. :(

Yip my own evidence will hopefully be a good starting point for them and hopefully give them an idea.. although I explained it pretty well they still looked at me all confuzzled likes....

If it is not resolved my 2 options are replace the clutch myself and see if that is the problem or just sell up.. cba with problematic cars. Not so much the car it's all the fannying about to go out my way to take it to dealer and all the hanging about wasting time then finding nothing.. :(

So I had a very promising interview yesterday with a local firm. So good that on my days off I have been asked to go in and work for them to get a feel for the place and if i like it/they like me scenario before offering me a job. All going well could be starting there in December. ;-)

So this takes me onto my next question. My commute will drop from 20 miles to 5 miles each way... is it pointless having a turbo car for this journey, by time i get to work it'll have only just warmed up. ??...

Hey Andy only you can really decide,l always believe things happen for a reason 5miles to a job,car not 100% maybe it is time to say "hasta la vista" to "That" car glad thing's are beginning to get better

My 'commute' is considerably less than 5 miles so personally wouldn't see that as a negative! Keeps the mileage down which is all good come trade-in time! :)

Your call though Andy, we can't tell you what suits or doesn't. Good to hear yer on your uppers again ;)

I can understand why you're a bit put off mate, that clutch business is ****** rediculous.

No way am I gonna keep mine outside warranty with the S-tronic.......................... I'd rather play russian roulette with a rocket launcher!! lol

My commute is just putting the bairn to school, 1.5 miles each way, and I have done it for 3 years now in various turbo cars with no issues , just drive past the house on the way home a lot for a little blast !

I was also worried a few month back as the company I work for were paying off a lot of staff. Fortunately for me I just had a rota change from a 2/2 to a 3on/2off. More cash but less time at home. The industry really ain't doing to well just now.

Do you not fancy something Jap, like an Evo x or something. Pick one of them up for not a bad price, or do you want something new?

Who did/do you work for in Cupar? Sabre safety? Only oil&gas company I can think of around this area.

Good luck with the new Job

Good to see you have been ok Rickie. I work at Gray Fabrication just in behine Sabre. We supply heavy duty fabrications to all the big boys and do quite a lot of piles and jacket structures too. 90% of our work goes offshore..
I am actually considering a few things now...fancy something a bit fun and mental tbh. Looked at evo x's, skyline gtr etc but also looking at caymans and boxsters.. found a decent boxster fairly close that has only done 25k miles for £14k. Bargain.. lol. We will see tho, my mind changes like the wind.

Yeah Bainie i drive pretty fast going through the town..don't even stop for red lights!!!! ;-)

If you don't need the rear space the world is your oyster!!

Followed a Cayman GTS out of an industrial park the other day.......................oh boy, the noise coming out of that thing was phenomenal!! Put it this way I couldn't hear mine!! lol

Yeah i don't need space really. The suit cases for holidays fit in the wifes tt so yeah i have too much choice..haha.
Cayman GTS is a serious contender for future..absolutely stunning and with sports exhaust sound amazing. I had a quick look at numbers and if I sell the S3 then that should cover most of the payments over 3 year pcp deal.. haha

Then add the options to a cayman gts don't even think it comes with xenons prefer the the boxster S both real nice, though a pcp deal on a slightly used one with toy's is the best way to go?

I almost bought a Boxster S once, ended up buying a SLK 55.
One of the best cars I've had the pleasure of owning.

***Update***

Still not fixed yet but garage is pretty sure it is not clutch slip. What they have noticed though and tbh wished I had noticed it earlier but when the fault occurs the gear indicator disappears then re-appears again when acceleration continues as normal.....?

I am off on holiday as of 21st so they are taking it in for the week and hopefully get it resolved for me coming home!!! Fingers crossed!! :)

So wee update.

My car has been in garage since 20th November. And guess what.. not fixed!! :'(

They have ruled out clutch but have no idea what is causing the fault.. thankfully they have witnessed the fault and now believe there is one when before i sometimes felt like they didn't believe me and felt like a fool for complaining.

The problem has been escalated to Audi technical and we are just waiting to see if they can help..if they can't then **** knows what's going to happen. :-/..

Oh and i have an A6 tdi ultra as a courtesy... its like a bus.. body roll is crazy and its not even quick either. ;'(

Edit.. and i got a new job out the oil and gas.. woo hoo. ;-)

Sounds like good news all round there mate!

Frustrating that it's taking so long but at least it sounds like they're on the case now :)

Yeah hopefully get it sorted soon Simon. They text me when I was on holiday asking what fuel i used, they didn't get an answer quick enough so my dealer went back to audi technical saying i used 95. They then came back saying to flush the system then only use 98 minimum and then in 3 to 4 tanks the problem will be gone. I then replied to text so they then passed that on to technical as i only use Vpower and now it's gone quiet again.. hopefully it is just something fuel related or something and an easy fix. Heck maybe a remap would help it. Haha
