Hi lads, if anyone has seen my previous thread I have fitted a5 s-line seats into my a4 b7 front and rear, I've wired in everything and everything is working as it should no lights on dash!! Woooo!! But I now need to wire in the electric seats, I've wire the live to the cig lighter and tried to earth it too the seat frame, but no joy should I run another wire to the cig lighter earth? The lighter is still working so fuse is still working, any help and info welcome, thank you jack.

When you say you have wired everything and everything is working do you not mean the electric movement on the seats? Did your original seats have electric lumber?

Hi mate, sorry should of said more clearly, I have wired airbags in etc so everything in that department is working, and no the originals didn't have electric seats, but I've been told I can wire them directly to a 12v source, as there is only two wires, red and black! And have it on a battery and they seem to work fine! Thanks Jack

Ah right I see. To be honest I wouldn't use the cig lighter for the power, fully electric seats require quite a big fuse. But having said that I'm not sure why it doesn't work, earth is earth it doesn't need to be the earth where the power comers from. But I would defiantly run a separate power from the fuse box to your seats if it was me.

Thank you for the reply mate, I was going to the seats to it because it's tidy, I was going to also put a bigger fuse in it, but could you tell me if possible how to wire from the fuse box? Thank you Jack

Not sure just a bigger fuse is the answer, the wires to the cig lighter may not take the extra power seat motors need so a bigger fuse is likely to not blow but melt the wires and potential fire!! Their is a few spare positions on the back of the fuse box you can put a terminal onto. I had to do similar when I retro fitted heated seats
