VAG Admit Cheating Diesel Emmissions...

Do they have a way to check for anything other than diesel recall models?

I clicked on the link from post 671 and it took me to VW page, when hit the link on there and I got a re direct to the VW Ireland page. I put my Reg No in and that was the message I got back!

Mine is a Petrol!

Haven't got a link by any chance have you? I followed through from that page but all I get is the German version of info.volkswagen, it asks for my VIN number but quotes it is only to check the NOx figures not CO2..

As stated, you need to remember the original NOx issue is separate from the newer CO2/MPG issue, which appears to include the latest Golf R amongst other petrol and (mostly) diesels.

I would have thought if the S3 was impacted it would have been on that comprehensive VAG list....no reason to leave it off.

There are quite a few Audi models that are missing form the list when the equivalent engined VW/Seat are included.

Hopefully they'll cover petrols as well. It's news to me that the 1.4 COD might be implicated. 109 CO2 did seem too good to be true for 150hp...

Though saying that, a Mini Cooper S cranks out 200hp and isn't much more CO2.

VW admits second illegal device in 85,000 Audi engines

Audi has conceded that the engines in a further 85,000 cars from the Volkswagen group contained an illegal defeat device, raising questions of how systematic the cheating was at the German carmaker.

The luxury car brand of the VW group said it estimated that correcting the engine management software used in Audi, VW and Porsche models would cost in the mid-double-digit millions of euros. It admitted that the software was in all three-litre V6 diesel engines manufactured by Audi and sold from 2009 until this year.

The admission further undermines VW’s insistence that the cheating in the two-month-old emissions scandal was limited to a rogue group of engineers. The German carmaker has already admitted installing a defeat device in 11m diesel cars worldwide.

It is also facing a third emissions problem after disclosing that 800,000 cars, including some with petrol engines, had been sold with the stated carbon dioxide levels as too low and the fuel efficiency too high.

Was only a matter of time.

I'm sure there's a lot more to come out over the weeks / months ahead.

VW sales down 25% compared to the
same period a year ago. (U.S.)

.....and other car brands are up? Or down as well? This is meaningless as a standalone number. We had a similar headline in the UK recently, turned out all car sales were down.

America is on target for the biggest car sales in 15 years so VW must be hurting. Nearly every other manufacturers sales are up in November. Be interesting to see how the numbers are here.

Sorry, it should read:

20% down in November 2015 compared to Nov 2014
10% down in October 2015 compared to Oct 2014

Interesting ...

'Volkswagen confirms emissions difference is 'tiny' and barely a few hundred vehicles in Spain affected

new-ReduceImgWidth.asp
ONLY a few hundred Volkswagen models in Spain are likely to have been affected by the emissions-rigging scam, according to the most recent research carried out by the firm's headquarters in Germany.

Practically all of the cars and vans thought to have been fitted with software designed to mask CO2 readings are within legal boundaries, and the actual emissions have been found to be the same as those displayed in testing.

A mere 36,000 cars worldwide produce emissions exceeding those displayed compared to the estimated 800,000 suspected at first, and in all cases, the difference is very small, says the Volkswagen Group head office.

This was only found in nine models – a Polo, a Scirocco, two Jetta, two Golf and two Passat types, and which in total make up 0.5% of Volkswagen's annual production.

The initial negative impact on profits of over €2 billion estimated has yet to be confirmed, but is unlikely to be anywhere near this high.

And the difference in displayed and real emissions is so minor that it falls within the legally-permitted deviation and the models in question do not have to be withdrawn from the market, Volkswagen says.

It works out at around 0.1 to 0.2 litres extra per 100 kilometres.

Volkswagen affiliates Audi, Skoda and Seat have agreed to conduct similar investigations themselves in the next few weeks.'

Something isn't right with the material above. The NOx cheat software is not the same as the incorrect CO2 type classification. There was never any CO2 masking/cheat software - it was an incorrect type classification ....

My wife received a letter from Audi today in connection with the work to be done to her A1 1.6TDI. The only problem is that she traded it in 7 weeks ago and now drives a VW 1.2 TSI Polo.

Not really a problem then is it?

Got the same letter. We're trading the wife's Q5 in for a S5 in March.
Audi can do whatever they want with the car then.

Got the same and my wife's car is due to change in April so I feel the same. Haven't tested any cars yet but I quite fancy an S3 sportback. We will be using her car less and she doesn't need so much space and she wants quattro.
