Firstly apologies for posting what has probably been done a million times! I tried the search and it kept coming back with an error, being impatient I decided to post!

I'm an ex 8L s3 owner, loved the car but sold it to try a few others and somehow ended up with an mx5 (I apologise!)....
I'm now looking at a last mental car before I have to start saving the pennies to upgrade the house in a few years time.

I initially wanted something really hardcore and looked at caterham r300 or lotus exige s260 but the wife would need to drive the car very occasionally and as much as I tried I don't think she is going to let me :-(
As a result I'm looking for compromise, I want something that feels very quick, keeps me smiling for a long time and something I won't ever regret getting vs other fast sports cars but that the wife can still drive.
Is the TTRS that car? Any reviews or opinions would be great!

A few questions....

TTRS vs plus, is there any reason to go for the plus if a remap can be had for the standard RS? Does the sports exhaust pop and bang like the new rs3?

What are the options to look for?

One final thing which I hate to bring up - residual value... the caterham and the lotus will basically loose me zero money's over the next 2-3 years, what are RS' likely to go down to? Saw one at 23k on an 09 plate today, incredible price! Is this a car that would ever drop into the teens / low teens? Or hold like the 06 era RS4s?

Opinions all round and any other considerations or thoughts would be much appreciated!

I'm a TT owner and a very active member on a n other forum
Mines only a tdi but know the car very well and have been in and worked on MANY TTRS's
I don't think for the extra 30 horse the plus offers is worth the extra premium

Many people have had remaps, exhausts etc etc and have very good bhp results
Most of them agree that when pushing the bhp up then the dsg box is a better box to have as the clutch doesn't last on a manual
Also Look out for rear diff bearing noise.

Couple of other things to look out for on a mk2 TT are,
window regulators clunky / noisy
Steering racks clunky / noisy
If it has Bose, the amp is in the rear quarter and suffer from corrosion / water ingress
The brakes ( same as rs3 ) suffer from warping due to them not being handed and one side doesn't cool as it should

As for depreciation, I think at the moment there holding steady ish but time will tell next year when the mk3 is released

Excuse me but the MK 2 TT brakes are not the same as the RS3; the TTRS may be but are a different disc with different offset; I have both an 8P RS3 and TT MK2 and am hands-on well aware.

Neither do the RS3/TTRS brakes suffer 'warping' its just friction material pick-up on the brake discs due to the **** - a technical term - materials used in the Pagid/Brembo/Audi OEM pads. EBC Redstuff sorts all of that... honest... :racer:

Having seen your TT Lee I am now considering a amplified edition for my next buy as it only needs to transport me.
Hope you don't mind but I may contact you when I start to fit the camera..
