Hi guys,

Lots of you probably know me from A1 forum or Instagram. I had a black Stage 2 1.4 TFSI A1 on air suspension which was running about 185 BHP. Here's my build from over on the A1 forum if you want to take a look: http://a1-forum.co.uk/a1forum/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=22665

Unfortunately the car was written off when a lorry pulled out in front of me without indicating or leaving me any time to brake or avoid it. It was an absolutely horrible time for me but luckily I escaped without any major injuries so I was very lucky. Either way the car was written off and I was looking for a new project. I loved my A1 but I always longed for some more power.. so thus begins chapter 2 and another project.

I decided I would make myself a bit better and put a deposit down on a brand new unregistered S1 from Milton Keynes Audi. It had a massive list of extras which meant it was a little more than I really wanted to spend but that feeling soon disappeared when I picked the car up...

My initial plans for the car is to harness the absolutely amazing engineering that has gone into this car and improve it. I want to take the car to stage 2, increasing the BHP to over 350, wheels, big brakes and just have some fun with it. I'm done with stance but the car will still probably be on air suspension but without any camber or stretched tyres :tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:

Welcome Matey!
Car looks stunning,
Looking forward to your developments with it,
Glad you are ok,from the previous!
Pete.

Nice S1 dude. This may sound a little stalkerish but I actually saw you, well your car driving round the car park at Xscape over a year ago, maybe even longer. Looked very smart.

Alright buddy, beautiful car.

Pretty quite on here in the A1/ S1 section, been on here since day one and hardly any posts. Look forward to following your progress with this though :D

Okay so moving on from this started by just debadging the boot and swapping the front Audi emblem for a black one (managed to get all the clips off without breaking them then broke the last clip :tearsofjoy:). Also managed to get my plate transferred over and onto the new one

Next up was an MK performance intake hose and Pipercross panel filter. We attempted to map the car at the same time but unfortunately being a new car, the ECU is currently encrypted so looks like I'll have to wait a few months for someone to crack it first! So for now I'm just running a panel filter, it has improved induction noise slightly but can't really say it's improved performance noticeably without a remap of course.

With the plans I had I just wanted to work on the rear end a little bit and ordered a glass wiper blank from Gecleant and wrapped the rear boot panel. I have it booked in for the panel for painted but wrapped just as a stop gap until then. First attempt went drastically wrong but second was quite successful, for my first time wrapping anything I was pretty happy with the finish. No bubbles or creases at all :)

Now the real fun starts.. I had the air suspension struts, management etc off of the old A1 sill sat around so we *attempted* to fit it to the rear of the car. Having never seen the underside/drivetrain on the S1 we knew that the front should be okay but the rear might require some fabrication or different bags/dampers. As predicted the front went on without too much work but the rear is completely different than the A1 and I think adopts much of the drivetrain from an S3. For now I just have bags on the front and standard suspension on the rear which isn't ideal but will be fine for now until I get some different rear bags sent over from Taiwan...

Rear bags should be here next week so hopefully have it all fitted and functioning correctly by next week then I can look at exhausts and performance upgrades. Already have wheels and brakes decided on so pretty excited to get going with this project. It's going to be expensive but should be worth it in the end! :)

Face down, *** up, that's the way we ....... oh wait ;)

Loving it so far mate as you know, the black boot lid is a great touch.

Not sure it will look right on my grey, been contemplating it for a couple of months.

Looking forward to seeing it fully sorted with the air.

Paid my deposit yesterday for the struts to be ordered in for fitting before xmas hopefully, and going to pick up some wheels on Sunday :D

Looking good, pick ours up next friday.
Could you tell me a source for the front and rear Audi rings in black.
Cheers

Great news mate :)

Looking forward to seeing it all leveled up and slammed

Spent a few weeks trying to get the rear suspension sorted. Taking measurements and consulting with TPC & Airrex Taiwan eventually settled on the rear setup from a Golf R as it is almost completely identical to the S1 rear geometry. So with double bellowed rear bags and fully adjustable shocks we should have a very comfortable and tight setup.

Kit went on without any issues, managed to run the air lines for the rear through some original grommets so didn't have to drill any holes in the car. Also trimmed bump stops and managed to get the rear sitting about an inch lower. Might have to shorten the custom drop links will see how it sits when it's on the new wheels.

Here are some photos from a shoot with OCD Finish from the weekend...

Wheels have been ordered also a few other goodies. Will order tyres after I've got the wheels and test fit them, need to make sure I have enough clearance :(
