hi all, as title, my turbos about to let go by the sound and performance of it ( overboosting limp mode and loud whistle when cold with a good amount of chatter on lift off ) so i'm gonna book the car in to get sorted, now my question is this, now the time has come to replace the turbo so do i go for standard or could i make up a hybrid for a little more pull and have it mapped in with an egr delete to try and hold the coking up of the vanes off a bit longer ??? if i do go hybrid what would i need, a full cartridge from a 170 or just the compressor wheel and or Turbine Shaft Wheel, not to sure on parts needed to hybrid the turbo sorry,

any thoughts please gents let me know,

cheers,

tony.

Great question Tony, I also would like to know this too mate

thought a few people would of had a bit of info or know how on this by now, whats up people ???

I would like to know this also...

I found this when I was looking http://www.darksidedevelopments.co....bv43-turbocharger-for-2-0-tdi-audi-a4-b7.html

hi mate,

i thought the borgwarner turbo was off the b8's ?, mines a 140 bre, and that price makes me cry lol.

i was thinking more along the lines of modding my turbo to a hybrid,(well, a turbo place will do it not me) lots cheaper to do than buy a full new hybrid turbo, that's basically the same thing as i will have if i go for it ???

I ran a BV43 turbo on my B5.5 1.9 Passat that was running just over 210bhp with a remap.
I don't know whether it's a straight swap onto a 140 bhp I suspect it probably would be. You can get them a lot cheaper than Darkside.
Had a quick look on Fleabay theres one on there ATM brand new

You can buy a recon one for £279 and pay the £99 surcharge that would only cost you £378 .

thanks mate i'll do a little reading up and see what the crack is with these,

my car was picked up last night by my best mate,(my mechanic as well which is handy) he is starting the work today so 'ill ave to decide what to do real soon, did you upgrade your clutch on the 1.9 to take the extra power ?

I did a 2 in 1 upgrade by swapping the 5 speed box with a 228mm clutch for a 6 speed box with a 240mm clutch . A 228mm clutch won't take the full torque from a 210bhp map. you would need to limit it. The 240mm clutch handles it better, the best solution without doubt is a Sachs organic clutch.

right then, thanks to all for the info, my car is alive and well again, went for a standard turbo back on in the end,

but my god what a difference its made along with a full service, the car now feels smoother, stronger, sharper, like a someone else's. it's now 110% better than it was, any one who is having ****** turbo vanes problems dont waste time trying to clean it like i did, just get it sorted proper first time.
