Hi all
I need to get power to my new dash cam.
Rather than feeding the long power lead down to the fuse box can I tap into the interior light for a permanent supply?
Has anyone done this and Is it fairly easy to take apart?
I also want to disconnect the audio pilot whilst I've got it apart so if anyone has any pics or an easy guide it would be much appreciated:redface:

Less than 5 mins runs the cable down, having it fused is correct and safe. If you tap into an existing wire you may put extra load on a circuit which may cause a fire.

Should be enough play to just tuck it in with the trim in place rather an removing it

Yep, tucked mine up the pillar trim without removing it. I also removed the centre interior light fitting and fished the wires over to the middle of the cars roof. If you don't have auto dip rear mirror you will see a little notch in the roof lining which is for the auto mirror wires, that is where i put my cameras wires.

Ok, quick update.
Got power to the dash cam via a fused tap but I'm struggling to find a fuse that will power off the dash cam with the ignition?
I tapped into the horn fuse (25 amp) thinking this would be ok as this doesn't work with the ignition being turned off but the dash cam remains powered up.
Can anyone help with this please???

I used fuse no7 for mine on Sunday.
Was the first ignition live I found

Just checked fuse no 7 on mine (10 Amp ESP) and it's the smaller spade fuse which my fuse tap is too big for :-(

Try the towbar one, only powered when the engine is running, think it's a big fuse.
