Hi all.
Not sure if it has been covered before, but is it possible to activate the side mirrors to dip when in reverse?
My car has standard mirrors (non folding:frown new:).
Cheers guys:yes:

Yes it is :) only the passenger side though as far as I know, it's called passenger drawdown, I would link you to the code but I'm on my phone

Cheers for the quick reply.
The salesman at my dealers told me it was only available on cars with auto fold mirrors??

I've had it done on mine. It's a very quick mode using VCDS have a search and you will find it with the other modes you can do.

Needle sweep
Oil temp in DIS
Lap timer in DIS
5 indicator flashes instead of 3

Here you go :

Select STG 52

STG Long Coding -> Function 07

Byte 04

Bit 2-Active

Bit 3-Active

Select STG 09 (vehicle power)

STG Long Coding -> Function 07

Byte 04

Bit 3-Active

To use this function the mirror selection switch needs to be pointed toward the passenger side
If it's central or drivers mirror selected the mirror itself will not dip

Cheers Phil-1.
Looks like the salesman trying to 'fob me off'
I already have the needle sweep and the lap timer but the oil temp in dis is on my wanted list.
Should I pester the dealer to add this ? (I don,t have vcds)

Cheers Tom.
Sorry to say I don,t have vcds so my only hope is to hassle the dealership.....:blahblah1:

If you have no joy with your dealership, I'm in Lincoln, I frequently travel around Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire and I have VCDS and I'm proficient with it

Tom
Thanks Tom for the kind offer......
Planning on visiting North Wales any time soon?.......lol

Can you use VCDS to make the alarm chirp when opening/closing the car?

Yes I have done this but tend not to use it but have the box available to tick in the MMI menus should I wish to activate it at any time.

The mirror dipping VCDS mod is well worth doing but feedback for the cars I've activated it on and my own previous Leon is that because the mirror head is physically missing some hardware (some sensors I believe) that from time to time a slight tweak to the adjustment is needed.

Thanks, think the Audi service guys would do it?

Not sure mate but certainly worth an ask. Have read on here that some dealerships have done the adaptive cruise control option menu VCDS mod for owners failing that have a look on the VCDS map to see if a helpful member lives close by.

This is correct. I have to adjust it sometimes, but I only use it when parking close to a curb.
I think it's another worth while mod.

OK thanks ;)

Yes this is another mod I have. I like it as it's an audible confirmation that the car is locked.

Exactly why I want it, many times I've walked away not sure if I have pressed lock. It's OK when it's light as I can see the mirrors tucked in, but now it's winter and my eyes aren't what they used to be lol!!!

Is anyone round Manchester with a VCDS who can activate the near side mirror drop for reverse for me? It's the one thing I miss from my gti. I pay in beer

Interesting bit of kit. The new MQB platform in our cars centres more around Adaptations than the Codings of old, hence why Carista cannot really do much to them.

Replying to an old post but Carista have a beta in progress for the MKVII platform for customisation use - will also apply to the 8V S3
