Has anyone ever done this? the oil is quite expensive, will it make any difference to the car? I will say gear changes are a little rough - but that might just be the clutch.
I have always worried that I undo the drain plug and then cannot undo the filler.
As the gearbox was worked on in 2006 I assume they changed the oil anyway then.

Undo the filler before you do owt mate.
Should be a 14mm Allen key

so is it a common thing to do? I think the oil is about £60 ?

I seem to be finding things to do that involve buying stuff but haven't done the things yet :D

I still have

a clicking CV joint (want to change drive shafts although near side looks quite new to me)
whining engine breaking noise
no aerial connection (scared of breaking the headlining trying to get to it and replace the shark fin)
no diversity male to male "gender bender" for stereo change
failing longditudinal sensor
iffy drivers door
slight oil leak onto manifold
not checked for clutch switch failure
I want to bleed the brakes and replace the discs and pads for new.
I have given up on the head lights after concluding that someone changed the xenon with standard and disconnected the nearside self levelling sensor.

Has anyone any comments on a guide eg is a Haynes manual good enough or should I try and source a Bentley?

Crack filer plug/gearbox drain and transfer box plug while the car is warm and on a level surface.. Drain fluid from the both boxes and clean the magnetic plug on the tranny box.

Replace both drain plugs fill it up and put the filler plug in... Run the engine and work the gears to fill the tranny box up then top it back up... Thts how i done mine pal

Thanks - did you use generic oil of the right viscosity or get special oil from Audi?
