Hi all,

After 3 1/2 good years of having my A3 sportback 2.0L TDI I decided it was time for a change. So I started to spend copious of times scouring the likes of Autotrader, Pistonheads and numerous other websites I came across a Black Edition A4 at a cracking price at Taunton Audi.

Off to the dealership I went to view the car, once I arrived and took it for a test drive I knew I had to have it. Then the news got even better in that they'd just reduced the price by £1500! I couldn't believe it. So I put down the deposit and signed the paperwork as quickly as I could.

After a week of waiting to pick it up, the day finally arrived and I raced to the dealership to collect it. Once the paperwork had been signed and it was mine I was smiling like a 5 year old at Christmas. After having it for a week I decided to finally take some photos (albeit not very good ones) and get them on here.

A few minor mods to follow i.e interior bulbs, front fogs and number plate bulbs. Also debating whether to de-badge or not..

Suggestions/opinions welcome

Thanks

Your new A4 looks great @Radford212 :thumbs up:

More pics & details on spec required plez

Oh & welcome to the B8 section :thumbs up:

Thanks!

Sorry got a bit excited in wanting to share my car I forgot the important bits :tearsofjoy:

it's 143bhp 2.0L TDI with multironic gear box, 19" Rota's, full leather with heated front seats, B&O speaker upgrade and AMI, cruise control. Will have a proper look tomorrow and see what else it has.

Hoping to get it mapped when the whole emissions things is sorted (yes mine is affected as well :nomouth:) but I was too excited to let it bother me when picking it up.

Will get some more pictures when it's had a good clean and not constantly raining

Welcome to the B8 section mate :)

Got the same car *** you but mines in moonshine blue which to everyone else is black lol

Audi warranty has just run out so the modding begins. Got my eye on a new grille and fog light grille I've seen on flea bay but check out bks Tuning. Com, got some nice interior /exterior oem parts for the b8.

Where about's are you located if you don't me asking?

This is a great site Radford. Black A4s always look smart. Welcome from Oz.

Thanks!

I don't believe I've seen a moonshine blue one before JRock, is it a very dark blue then?

Ahh cool, I do like the look of the RS4 grills but as I've just got mine I've got a two year warranty so I don't know if changing it will affect my warranty in anyway but I will definitely check out that site you mentioned.

I'm located near Bristol, how about yourself?

Cheers Chucky, I love how it looks in black just not a fan of how hard it is to keep clean lol

I recon the black optics grille looks great. Little bit more open and still aggressive. They carry black rings really well.

Thanks!

Yes, VERY dark. In most lights, it looks Black which doesn't bother me as I love the black as well. Not many about, one of the reasons I got it and because the spec matched what I wanted.

My advise would be not to mod the car if you have Warranty. I was warned not to change anything as it will most likely void any warranty you have on the car. I'm glad my warranty has run out, can't wait to start modding. Had an A3 Sline previously, which I got the modification 'bug' from, couldn't stop! lol

I'm located in Hampshire, so about 100miles away...shame.

Don't forget to check out eBay as well but watch out for fakes and Chinese rubbish copies.

Keep you posted on what I get done.

I don't think I've ever heard anyone say they're happy that their warranty has run out..

Well I've got to take it back to Audi tomorrow so I'll see what they say but as you said I'll probably get told that it will void it in some shape or form.

Sounds good, will be interesting to see what yours looks like as you go!

Trust me, when you get the mod 'bug' you will wish your warranty has run out!!!!!! :)

Very very small update, decided to remove the TDI badge today. Didn't want to take the A4 badge off though. Think it looks better in my opinion. Will add a picture tomorrow.

Well it's been a while since I last posted, not much has changed with the car although I'm now hoping to finally getting round to making the changes that I want. Finally able to spend some money after getting married. Got the cleaning stuff out today and gave the car a good going over.
Image
Snow foamed the whole car with Demon Foam (not sure if this is a good snow foam but worked okay for me) then rinsed it off, dried it with a chamois. I've read on here in the detailing section about claying the car so I thought I'd give it a go. To say I'm impressed with the results is an understatement. Don't know why I've never done this before.

I used Meguiars Quik Clay and I believe the results speak for themselves (you may disagree, if you've used other products and got better results then let me know so I can give them a go) One things I do need to find is a good wheel cleaner. Any suggestions would be great thanks

Never mind the good results you've got Radford, does your wife know you've got her phone?

Meguiars Kwik Clay's always been good enough for me in the past. However, on the recommendation of others, I do plan to try a clay mitt next time, though.

Clay mitts are mega mega easy and alot faster to use. Definitely worth a purchase when you next need claying stuff for the car.

I'll have to look into clay mitts then, cheers for the heads up. To say doing it with a bar yesterday was time consuming is an understatement although it may of taken longer seeing as it was the 1st time I've done it?

Anybody got any suggestions on decent wheel cleaners?

Iron x or similar, spray on leave for a couple of mins pressure wash off easy. If your wheels are pretty bad I wash them with it on the wheels.

Average time for a clay mitt about 30-40 at most. Cheap shampoo as lubricant, soak the mitt for 5mins in the bucket with cheap shampoo solution then do windows first to prime the mitt.

Ha! Wish I knew that yesterday, would saved me over an hour. I'll have a look at Iron X later on. Cheers Feva.

As said before Radford once you start taking care cleaning you'll spend a small fortune, there's always better products out there it's just knowing what's best. Trial and error some times.

A good wax always finishes it off. I love collinite 845 wax best stuff ever used. Really easy to apply and buff off.

So there's no need to get a brush on them with that on there then? (n00b question)

Nope. If they are mega dirty I spray it on leave it a couple of mins then wash with a wash mitt. But once you've used it you'll see the difference from all the crap wheel cleaners you've used before.

I give mine a good clean with it then coat of collinite 845, then just normal shampoo will take off the day to day crud, till you notice it sticking again.

Worth noting the mix of iron x will turn to brown once its stopped reacting.

Small update, so my new tyres turned up ready for my new wheels when they get ordered

And I got my rear windows tinted by Global Tint Bristol. They did a bang up job. Went for their 'Luna' tint which is closest to OEM tints they have for Audi

I got them due to some of the reviews I've read about tyres on here, I've got Continentals on there at the minute and I'm not too keen on them personally

Well from personal experience I think you won't be disappointed. Know loads of people who've also had them. Excellent grip in all conditions.

Looking forward to getting them on the car, going to order my wheels Friday and hopefully get them all fitted the following week. Then I can give it a good clean

Can you recommend a good sealant I can put on them before they get a coat of wax?
