Shouldn't S3 owners have there own section

IMHO............. No.... the S3 is an A3 with a big engine in the same way the SB is a car with more doors than a HB or diesel v petrol.

At first I thought yes, good idea.
Any more posts about how fast I can drive in a straight-line and my head will explode.
They seem a tad "touchy" at times as well.

Then, on reflection, I realised that should the S3 section be separated, then this would result in Veeeight relocating as well.
This can't be allowed to happen.
The knowledge, experience, assistance and general banter is just too important for us A3's to lose.

I understand the OPs thoughts though and while there are a majority of benefits, these would unfortunately be outweighted by this one MASSIVE disbenefit.
The answer therefore has to be a resounding No Thanks.

But then technically the RS3 is just another A3 with an even bigger engine than the S3... And they have their own section. :whistle2:

Big fish in a small pond springs to mind :blow:. Wonder how things would fare if the S3 group was merged with the RS3's :box:. I guess it's relevant stuff though. Technically the RS3's should all be in this subforum also.

The post photos of your car should be split to regular A3 and S3's though. Every page is filled with S3's, not knocking them at all as I would like to have one haha! But it would be nice to see them grouped. You have to sift through hundreds of pictures to find a non S3 model.

S3 owners do bring a lot of knowledge, info and keep the forum ticking over due to there being a high number of S3 owners on the forum. So who knows really. I think it works well as it does

And I've already made the argument that, personally, I think the RS3 should be in the same forum too.

I think the RS3 separation is already pointless and separating the S3 too just results in three separate forums for what is largely the same vehicle. Have a look through the threads in here and you'll realise that the vast majority of issues/questions/comments pertain to things which are common across all models, including the RS3 and S3. Separating these into different forums serves no purpose other than to massage the egos of those with the faster models by giving them their own little place to chat.

Just my opinion and I know many others will disagree (including the forum mods/admins) but there you have it.

As above. Keep it as it is. Works well. Having been on forums which are totally split into sub-sections, which doesn't work IMO!

We have no plans to divide the a3 section. As previously said. Keep all the knowledge that is the same or similar across the chassis works better as one section.

Why do you want it split up? From reading all the posts above, the overwhelming consensus is to keep it together. Sandra has confirmed that thought!

^ This :)

Yep, S3 is an A3.

Having an RS3 sub is a closer call.

As a special model it may be deserved, but with fewer owners and lower levels of contribution ........ not in the slightest bit helped by the fact that every post goes into "RS3 8V Orders List" ..... so, guys please start helping yourselves, threads are free :sign welcome:

S3 is an A3, with a bigger engine and go-faster bodykit ;)

So, no.

(This section already tends to be S3 centric anyway ;) )

I was in favour initially but now i disagree. As an S3 owner i realise my car is very similar to an A3 (actually....it is an A3, just a sportyish variation) and many parts, components, features and functions are identical so to me we should all stay together as one big happy family.

I think it's simpler to split the forums like Audi list their cars - by model - but include the RS models into each equivalent area. Sub-categories can be model versions - 8P, 8V etc.

Like the A5/S5/RS5 forum - which is odd because there is an RS section but the RS5 isn't there?

Spreading posts out between areas means extra clicks to get somewhere - and that's bad.

A busier forum = more people likely to post = more posts = a busier forum.

The A3 Sportback e-tron was split off soon after launch which ended up meaning that e-tron owners probably spend most of their time looking at this forum, I certainly do as most of the posts are relevant as it is only the powertrain that differs.

Good point - should probably bring A3 eTron in as well I think. Anything A3 in one forum (split by generation), same for A4, A1, A5 etc. Just my view. Helps share knowledge.

And might also convince some on the fence to go for a faster Audi

I have the smallest Diesel engine in the A3 range, the middle spec variant of A3 (Sport) and not many options apart from S-Tronic. However, I'm happy as a pig in sh1t and happily contribute and take advice from all other A3/S3 owners.

The smaller the target audience the less knowledge sharing, help and advice there will be and therefore effectiveness as a useful forum. Plus you'd miss us ;o)

Personally, I think we are better all together.

I know there may be more owners active on the A3 8V section, then perhaps in the A1, but if you look at those forums the activity is much, much lower - and as was said above activity leads to discussion, which leads to activity...
