Hi all, so ive noticed every morning on a cold start (2.0 tfsi) that it doesnt seem do have a fast idle/choke when cold. Usually a car on first fire up would idle between 1500-2000 rpm mine just seems to sit at 8-900, it doesnt flucuate or misfire or hesitate to rev or idle, it acts perfectly normal. what does everyone elses car idle at in the morning? Surely they have a fast idle to bring them upto temp?

My S3 idles at 1k for a couple of minutes normally and then falls to 750-800 odd after that.

Ours cars are not designed to be warmed up in the same way as older ones... The cooling system is too efficient. The manual says that in order to warm the car up quickly you should start driving straight away, but keep the revs low. This will result in the engine warming quicker than if you just left it stationary.

Same here. Almost every day it idles fast at start… normal. Occasionally on a cold start its idle speed is as if it's warm. Weird. As it starts and runs fine I won't be worrying about it. :)
