hi folks decided to get a c new motor for xmas and it's gonna be one of these two, what's everyone's opinion ?? Either way it will end up having the usual exhaust, filter, and map done but it has to be auto. Can't decide whether the economy justifies the rector noise and haven't heard a modded 2.5 the ones on YouTube all seem to be American brands or badly recorded all opinions appreciated help me choose people

As above. I'd avoid cvt gearboxes. Tiptronic is only one I would have but even they can be problematic.

Engine wise, it depends on your fuel 'budget per bang/power'

I've got the 2.5Q 180 and love it.

I've heard the 3.0 v6 and love that too but have never owned one.

If I'm not mistaken ( which according to the Mrs I always am ) all quattros came with tip tropic so I should be alright as I want Quattro anyway

Had to be manual for either, the 2.5 TDI is a lazy old lump in my opinion, I previously had a 3.0 v6 ASN petrol too which I loved, I'd go for that, had both pre and both main cats out with induction kit and a strong map, sounded awesome

What kind of Bhp and mpg did you see ?? And it's gotta be an auto just because I really can't be bothered with manual clutches anymore lol

Iv got the 2.4 v6 which is regarded as one of the worst engines audi make for the A4 as it's so heavy and un tuneable, but even with it running completely standard it's sounds great and out ways all the cons for me. I get around 21-25mpg with a mixed driving style. Am I right in thinking it's best not to put an induction kit on but just a good panel filter on the v6's?? Also you only gain minimal bhp from remaps on them??

Yes Minimal bhp but opens throttle up nicely especially mid range, I pushed mine as much as I could and was surprised, actually felt like going from N/A to a sort of boosted power. Was getting 120 to £30 of fuel,

That's not bad, I get around 220 miles from £50 and the 2.4s and 3.0 are generally very similar mpg due to the extra weight of the 2.4 I think due to the different blocks!? I like the sound of more mid range power, I feel mine pulls better than my Mrs vectra Sri 150 cdti lower down!!

Get the 2.5 tdi and throw £1500 at it, you get 300 Bhp, 650Nm of torque and 600 miles on a tank + comes with quattro as standard !
