Hi, mum and dad are looking at either a Q3 or BMW 2 series active tourer, the Q3 would be a petrol and I think the choice is a 1.4Turbo or 2.0Turbo and it will be 2wd.
The 6 speed auto is not listed as a DSG?.

Any views or advice will be greatly appreciated.

There current car is a Golf with the 6 speed DSG box.

I've got a 7 speed s-tronic in my A3. Had a 6 speed DSG in my Scirocco. No idea about wet and dry. Just know they are both double clutch boxes and extremely smooth.

If it was a multitronic on pretty much any engine, I'd be worried, but with the 1.4TSI / 2.0TFSI, you're looking at such low torque levels, I don't think any of the DSG's will be especially stressed... it starts to get debatable with the 3.0TDI's and beyond (i.e. over 300lb/ft), especially if you remap them to release the lower end torque.... but the petrols don't break gear boxes in the same way: even a 2.0TFSI in 250bhp+ tune is <275lb/ft and that's at higher revs, so not the same stress on the clutch(es)... for comparison, a detuned 3.0TDI (218PS) is ~300lb/ft at ("1250-3750 rpm")
