Anyone know what the small little arm is that goes between the tie arm lower and upper on the left side about midway between wheel and haldex? I was told be good to renew as I'm doing my suspension. TPS don't have it on their diagram.

Cheers Steve

Ok, sounds strange, never heard of one on any other car. How does this work & also how is this a necessary feature for the rear lights?

Hi i may be wrong but i think it was meant to be worded slightly differently it is a level sensor for the xenon headlights therefore if people sit in the back of the car the beam level would naturally rise hense what this sensor is for so the healight motors can adjust the lowbeam of the headlights so they wont blind on coming cars

S3 xenon headlights are self levelling... there is a sensor front and rear used by the headlight control module to ensure the headlights are pointing at the right height

If the rear sensor is broken (common issue and normally broken when fitting lowering springs) then it should be replaced for the self levelling system to work...

TPS are useless at finding parts like this...

Thanks Tuffty, eventually found part at TPS and price is £39, bit steep for small part imo so will only buy if needed after suspension changed.

Also picked up outer CV boot kit and was surprised at the hard plastic it's made from and not the usual soft rubber I'm used to seeing. Just hope it doesn't split easily.
