Hi, I'm currently doing an RS3 Rep on an A3 S line 2.0 TDI DSG 170

Now, I know the S line suspension is good, but I am going to put 19" Rotors on it soon.

It needs to be lower, and a few others have said it needs to be lower

They have mentioned just getting the lowering springs?

My question is, What suspension should I buy? I don't want it to be too expensive (£250 max), but the cheaper the better for me. although I don't want it to be a crap ride.

I don't want it to be slammed. Just looking as low or a bit lower than an RS3/S3

Thanks

Should probably be looking at a spring setup mate, as £250 would only buy you rubbish coilovers. Although I have heard that JOMS are as good as you can get for the money in that price bracket. But id go for a better quality spring than a cheaper coilover tbh.

Thanks dude. Yeah, that makes sense. and how much of a drop do you think I need? Is 40mm too low?

I did 30mm Eibach sport line springs and they came out nice, well the rear end did I'm still fighting with the front end!

Sport line lower 40mm from the SE height. So if your car is S-Line they will lower it a further 20 mm or so

Eibach prokit lower 30mm from SE height so around 10mm for a s line car

I think I read that if you go with the sport line eibach, then you will need to upgrade the shock absorbers too. Can anyone confirm this?

i've had sportline in the past and i'm not running pro-kit with stock dampers. when my dampers get knackered i will upgrade them but the ride is fine on stock to be honest

Pointless doing springs without the dampers, the S-Line is possibly one of the worst standard suspension setups I've ever come across - soft springs & solid dampers, slapping a set of stiffer lower springs just makes ride comfort even more unbearable even if it does look good.

If you're after a decent drop go with the Eibach Sportline springs, the Pro kit is so little drop in comparison to standard it's a waste of time.

While you're at it I can recommend the Bilstein B8 or B12 dampers to go with the springs (they can be bought as a complete kit with Eibach springs, or dampers only) & while you're at it, change your front suspension top mounts to the RS3/TTRS versions, they're tougher than the standard A3 items (and cheaper) & use SKF top mount bearings (much more durable than standard bearings), it's always good practice to renew them while the suspension is out & save yourself any future issues.

No mate IMO 40mm will not be too low but that is personal choice.

He has a budget of £250 I think he said.

Imho only change dampers when these fail. I've used both pro kit and sport line with stock dampers with no issues

Agree with changing top mount and bearing tho

Thanks Everyone, for the advice. It's been somewhat helpful.

Do you mind showing me a picture of a 40mm drop from SE and a 30mm drop from SE please? I don't really know how all of this lowering thing works tbh. Thanks

Save a bit more and go for some decent coilovers. There are loads of people who go for springs, get them fitted then aren't happy with the ride height.

Nice!!!
That's exactly the same height I want mine at. Are you sure that's TT S line suspension? Looks great,... But why didn't they make A3 S line like that!!!
If I was to just buy TT Springs, would they go straight on to my shockers? And will it look like yours? Thanks

Will they definitely fit my 2.0 tdi s line dsg sportback?

yes they are MK2TT s-line shocks and springs, i just bolted the fronts in as a whole thing, the backs i just used the TT springs and standard A3 s-line shocks

so what spring setup can be used on the quattro version its already an s-line , but needs to be lower ,ride is stiff already finds everypot hole even on 18's

It may be the iPhone image not looking right but it looks as if the front needs to go down a tad more. Looks like your back is lower than the front from the pics. Great profile , forward rake gives the best handling into corners.

VWR springs will also go straight on and give the look you want.

after looking at TT s lines on ebay, I've realised, the front is like that on all of them, so I don't think I will be going for the TT suspension. on top of that, mine is not a Quattro, so I doubt they will fit mine. Good shout Foxymk1 for mentioning it though, much appreciated

Eibach sport line springs. Job done.

I went for the Sportline springs. I took delivery of them today. Brand new boxed and packaged up. Was quite excited to fit them actually. Tried just one spring on the rear of my car today. Just too low for me with the 19's. They look absolutely mint on my car, but just not for me. I need something about half an inch higher. I'm just going to sell these on. I've attached pictures to show, before Eibach Sportline and once I put the Eibach spring in. P.s. Discs and pads are next on the list lol

I have the pro kit and wanted the sport line

Is yours a factory S line? Can you please upload a picture of your car with the Pro kit on? I'd like to see how the car looks with them on compared to these

That looks good, are you on a level ground? It does look a bit low. My sport lines only sit like that with rear passengers or with a full tank and two upfront

Mine with 19inch 215 tyres

19inch 235 tyres

225,35,19 i think, the car is parked up so i would have to look
