As some of you may know, the Panaramic roof on my s3 has packed in. I'm pretty sure the mechanism has broken. Iv only just bought the car privately and it has a full Audi service history, always done at the same dealership by the previous owner. However I don't think the panoramic roof has been greased as it should. I have a screenshot saying it should have been done in 2013. Cars been in for a service since but not been done.

This isn't going to be a cheap fix. I was wondering if anyone had any success with either Audi UK or an independent dealer outside of the 3 year warranty?

Hi yooni7.
Just had an engine replaced under goodwill gesture 90%.
All I can say is go to your local dealer and ask if they can act on your behalf. If not then contact Audi UK yourself and see where it goes from there.Just be polite you have nothing to lose...Good luck mate
ps the car was 5 months outside of the 12 months warranty..

Judging from experience and with full Audi service history with the car then i'd have thought this would either be sorted FOC or have a major contribution towards the repair by Audi UK.

However its up to Audi UK on the day ofcourse - i can't speak for them. I'm just judging from what i've seen in the past with claims like this.

VAG group are much more likely to approve a goodwill claim if there is comprehensive service history.

It also pays to be really nice when you ask the dealer, else they may be less willing to help you if you go in all guns blazing with toys floating about. :)

I have contacted Audi UK however they have told me that it is all down to the individual dealer discretion. First I would need to get the car diagnosed. Now the issue I have is that the diagnostics charge is £120. If after this I am told there is no goodwill from the dealer, I am £120 out if pocket as I can't afford to fix the roof myself. It's a catch 22 situation.

Just noticed that you work as a parts manager at Audi. If I decided to go independent, could you source me the roof cable mechanism at a more competitive price than I have been quoted? If so, could you please explain the process as I am fairly new to the forum :)

Sorry the message above was for you but my phone seems to have a mind of its own!

Did they? Strange. Its us dealers that ask them for the financial contribution in cases like these. They weigh up whether the car has been loyal to the brand etc and then make a decision on that.
I'm actually based at a SEAT dealership but the processes remain the same.

I've spoken to our Warranty Admin on the subject and he said go to your local Audi dealer, ask them to help via means of contacting 'Audi Customer Care' and they'll simply ask the question.

To do that though, the car will need to have been in the workshop and a 'DISS report' made on it. Which will mean the diag fee in your case.

Perhaps though, it might be worth you having a word with the Service Manager at your local branch - he wants the work after all, the dealer gets paid for the work by Audi UK if the claim is successful, so its in his interest to get the work in..

Based on that try and come up with a amicable financial solution for the diag fee.

You both can gain from it, but nothings free remember, (there are 10 technicians all receiving a wage out the back) but if he as any sense, he'll help you on that diag charge considerably.

Again though, i cannot speak for how other dealers operate.

If you would like to message me your reg i'll have a look at the part in question and quote you for the part(s) alone :).

Kind Regards,

Mike

I always had Pan Roofs on my Audis but never serviced/greased mine up. I've never seen any methods to service them, can you point me in the right direction.

Audi sell a grease (which is no better than a normal grease u can purchase from any hardware store from what iv been told). The glides where the glass roof slides open needs to be greased. I can't be any more specific than that I'm afraid but I would certainly get it done to prevent any damage. It only costs around £30 from what iv been told.

When mine had the last major service, it was flagged up that the pan roof was due a service.
I did this myself after finding an online audi pdf showing the process. It wasn't difficult and didn't involve removing anything.
I would say if it is a serviceable item but not part of the actual service, then it really should have been done alongside normal servicing for Audi to consider a goodwill gesture. However it's definitely worth pursuing as I've found its dealer dependant on what they will or won't do tbh

Cheers Ju. The car has full audi history from Hatfield audi so I would have expected them to have done it. It was a company car and the company just asked for all work required to be carried out.
Have you used Bradford audi? How have you found them. Im considering either bradford leeds or Huddersfield but want to go to the one where iv got the best chance of them looking at goodwill.

I have used Bradford Audi without any issues, not my preferred choice though.
I use Leeds Audi as a rule but only because the wife works near there which makes it easier.
Harrogate Audi, Huddersfield Audi and Wakefield Audi in that order I would suggest.
All owned by the same group though and can depend which side of the bed they get out of on that day!
