Hi all

Can I just start by saying how helpful this forum has been in the ordering process/general queries! I have been using the Search function time and time again! I've been following this thread since Dec 14 when I ordered the S3 just haven't participated until now.

I took delivery of my S3 at the end of May this year and unfortunately it has been in and out of the dealership since due to a reoccurring Start/Stop system fault. The dealer tried a couple of different 'fixes'. They replaced some solenoid valve (something with the fuel system). This didn't stop the fault from showing. The car then returned to the dealer for testing and Audi suggested the fuel tank and all the fuel lines should be replaced. They thought there may be something restricting the flow of fuel which is throwing up a fault and not activating the Start/Stop system. This was done end of October and this didn't work either.

I then booked the car in once again so they could look at it. This time on the way to the dealership the car 'broke down' whilst I was on the dual carriage way (in the outside lane). This turned out to be a fault in the fuel tank which they installed which resulted in the fuel reading to be incorrect! (So in fact I had run out of fuel on the way to the dealership!)

I have now lost all confidence in the car and am also concerned if any long term problems/issues have been caused by all the work being carried out on the car, and the fact that this fault still hasn't been fixed!

So last week I have rejected the car and am awaiting a response. Apologies for the length of the post just thought it may be interesting for anyone else who is in a similar situation.

(What a car it is when it's working haha!)

Best thing to do once the confidence is lost.
When the experience goes really well, all is well with the world.
When the experience doesn't go so well, then bale out and try something else.

Hope all goes well and your experience gets better as you progress.
Be interesting to see how it pans out.

It is a shame you've had to let it go but I would've done the same in that situation. Would never be able to enjoy the car properly afterwards, would always have a bit of worry in the back of my mind, especially when the warranty expired.

Can you reject a car after 6 months?
It's just short of 6 months, couple of weeks off. I still think you can reject after 6 months just gets harder to prove the fault was always there.

Sounds like you've had a lousy experience there and can't imagine any of us (even those who love our S3's) would do any different.

Good luck and hope you get things resolved :)

Sorry to hear you have had such a bad experience. I am sure your dealer will try and hold out against rejecting the car, it's there profit after all. But stand your ground and do as much of the haggling and discussions you can face to face in the showroom.

Good Luck!

Good advice on the face to face. Much easier for them to fob you off when not in person.

And they will not be to keen on an having an irate customer in the showroom and if possible have the discussions at the open showroom desks, not a side office.

Thanks for all the support and advice!

So an update on this for those who are interested. The dealer got back to me and rejected the rejection (reason given was the car is fixed), however they put an offer to get me out of the car. Cut a long story short, they've ordered me a new car (like for like) which is due in March. The catch was that the finance agreement (3 year PCP deal) is restarted as the car I've had has depreciated as I got use out of it.

I'm satisfied with the result and tbh couldn't be done with the hassle of pursuing it for a rejection.

At least your sorted fella. Some times a lemon of a car gets into the system (happens with ALL manufacturers), I had a lemon of a Leon once. I have an A3 saloon and (touch wood) I cant fault it. Good luck and happy motoring.
