DTM register / owners thread

Hi guys I've been working on my DTM for around a month now , de-chroming and wrapping stuff
Roof, wing mirrows, rear defuser, boot scratch strip and the cigarette lighter holder.
All the wrapping has turned out great, not bad for the first time.
All led interior lights
Window tints. 50% fronts, limo black on the rear
Apex 40mm lowering springs
Miltex cat back
S4 brake kit
Forge dump vavle
I decided to do the body work and stuff while I was collecting the k'04 turbo kit.
So as follows , these are the parts al be fitting in the coming weeks
Cxracing fmic 3.5 core high flow
5.bar fuel regulator
2010 s3 injectors
2010 s3 k'04 turbo
2.5 de-cat down pipe with custom flange
Also managed to find a nice plain grill which im gonna wrap the edge in cardon and spray the audi badge yellow and fit the carbon rear logo and that with be the audi complete for remapping
I was talking with a mapping company 'Durham re maps' and I spoke about hpfp and they seem to the there is no point changing the internals on the pump . The cars don't see any gains . So I've chose to stick with the original pump and see how that goes.
I've just had 6k of work done to the DTM
The previous owner didn't look after it,
New hpfp, cam follower, camshaft / cam sensor, oil pressure sensor/oil level sensor/oil pump/oil return pipe
All new gaskits
Ac recharges and new condenser cooler.
But the car is running better since I had the remap taking off as it wasn't good for the stock car , the mapping company said he was lucky he didn't crack the block , car is running sweet now tho.
Gotta love the yellow DTM's

Yes, local, on the outside looking in on Avril!!!......and have been sort of for over a half of Century!!.....have not owned her for long, but have been looking for over 2 Half years for a Good-Un to appear, this one is in Lexus Pearlecent White with Phantom Black roof,(Professionally resprayed).... when it came up....I knew it would some how be mine;)

Already burning a ****** great Hole in ones Budget, but Hey Ho...possibly the only Fully loaded White one out of the 218 that are road funded.

I'll put more up, as and when I get her the way I want her (Subtle Mods).....not one for deep chat etc...LOL. ...I like taking in ALL the others posts on here....They are a :applaus::lmfao:Great bunch on here!!...

Oh, it does have the dreaded erratic idle, and the Direct injection clatter....But will soon have New Cambelt and Timing chain, there after, I will be visiting the local food banks!!!!!:jester:

Cheers

Very nice fella, who's doing the belt and chain as need mine doing soon?? I've had ours for a year on Saturday and still luv driving it around, always turn heads lol if ya see us driving around give us a wave

Ritusmaximus out of interest what colour was your DTM before it was white (just saw the post saying it was resprayed)?

Well a few updates on mine.
Got the Cam Chain and tensioner done last week by Audi VW Specialist in Harrow. They did a cracking job, replacing the Cam Follower as well as it was knackered. I now have no more death rattle.
Got the revised oil pickup to be fitted when I get paid the end of this month also.
Front Pads replaced but discs need doing so when the pads need replacing next I'll be going S4 Discs and Pads.
New Thermostat fitted

When I bought the car it was meant to have a Revo stage 1, however more testing with VCDS revealed that the car was only boosting to 0.8 bar so no Revo. Contacted Revo Head Office and was told as long as I have the receipt my local reseller would apply the remap again. So for an hours labour this got done by the top chaps at The Phirm. Peak boost of 1.35bar and 264bhp later with around 294lb/ft that's more like it (need to get on a rolling road to corroborate the figures for certain).

Currently got a fuelling issue to sort out showing issues on VCDS for the low pressure sensor but having replaced this I'll be doing the fuel filter next.

Everytime I look at this car I find something new on it that the previous owners have fitted, so mods to date are

Front Mounted intercooler (unknown make)
Pipercross Panel Filter
Miltek Half system (Mid pipe back I think)
Lowered on H&R Spring with lower cups.
Single mass flywheel
RS4 rear ARB
Revo Stage 1 (went for the aggressive map)
Replaced Front door Puddle lights with laser Audi Logo ones (not really a mod but I quite like them)

When I bought the car the following parts had already been replaced
HPFP
Cambelt and tensioner
Waterpump
New Alternator
New High pressure fuel sensor

Have a few plans but just want to get around 300bhp and I'll be happy. Maybe Cat bypass next but need to change the diff and gearbox oils first. Concentrating on maintenance as I actually want to keep this car longer than I normally do.

Quality.
Are you going to post any pics? Would love to see what it looks like in white.
There ya go!!......I have put it on my Avatar.(Not a Great picture, but ok)......This one is without 15mm Spacers, and the Standard Alloys you see, are the "Winter wear"!!....the "Summer Wear" will go on in about 2 week's........Colour Coded Genuine RS4 19 x 9s

What sort of mileage are your DTM's showing at the moment mine is just about 2 reach 70,000 and just past the dreaded MOT! Gonna spend a few £££ over the next few weeks on belts and a few other preventive measures just waiting for the overtime 2 start at work lol

Mines around 103k. Just had the cam chain done and the oil pickup to book in for the end of the month. Both of these jobs are preventative measures as I want to use the car on the track and drag strip in the near future.

How much was the chain and pick up pipe as a rough price as would like them done on ours

Chain is about - £250-300 labour
Chain parts - £160-200 (depends if u get trade or not)

Pick up parts - £35 + oil of your choice
Labour 1 to 2 hours labour.

I'm not sure if this could be made sticky but would be nice to have a thread for the B7 DTM where owners could post a pic of their car, we could see how many of the '250' are on here and keep track of them and compare mods etc.

i'll start off

Hi, I was wondering if you had to change the water lines for the k04 turbo as I know the turbo I have for my Dtm is m14 and the m15 for the s3 turbo I have, how did you get round that? Thanks

Very nice fella, who's doing the belt and chain as need mine doing soon?? I've had ours for a year on Saturday and still luv driving it around, always turn heads lol if ya see us driving around give us a wave

Fyi Imotepify

I have had my Cam Belt/Tensioner and Water pump done....and quite pleased with the result..I did not have my Timing Chain done, as under opinion it was not necessary (Low miles)..

These were the guys that carried out the work... http://www.quattro-tech.co.uk/

Based in St Ives, Cambs

David, Melvin and Darryl....I got it booked in, and done a week later, loan car was provided, and they required the car for 2 days...Very competitive price!!

Can’t praise them up enough, David went that extra mile, or miles!!.. as I had a Breakdown near to Home that Friday evening, and he came out immediately to sort it, even though it may have been first thought that it was a result of the Cambelt work, it turned out that I ran out of Fuel...Long story!!!....

With this in mind, and as an experience........I hope the following makes sense, and is of help and not a repeat on here of this information?

Information now learned, these cars (Quattro’s) have two Fuel Tanks, sort of.(Saddled and shaped over prop), the reserve tank holds 14 litres....Low fuel warning light comes on at about this? once main tank is exhausted?......mine never, as it seems the sender on that side of the tank went U/S????....the onboard computer stated that I still had 80 miles distance and quarter of a Tank, and with no Low Fuel beep/light showing...

David drove out to me on Friday Rush Hour, checked on Vag-Com, fault found in fuel sensor circuit, as it showed 14.1 litres remaining in tank(s)!!, and no faults with the dash insert (Meter), David diagnosed and explained in detail, that the fuel did not get pumped across by the jet pump from the reserve side....(Pump has to work in unison with the senders signal to ecu), we then went and got a couple of gallons from a local garage........viola!! the car started....

Carried out a 2 week test to check what mileage I am doing, with a view to look at the sender when the fuel is low.......which I have now done.(note: that on the same evening of the breakdown, the initial fuel up to pump click off, was just over 38 litres, coupled with the jerry cans of about 10 litres, then add in the 14 litres in reserve, came to what the tank holds...63 litres approx!!, when checking onboard fuel distance, it read 345 miles, when it is usually about 420-35,which seems to bear out that the fuel did not get pumped across)

So, after pre checking access and what type of work entailed by taking the sender cover of Tank (n/s), after a “Dead Reckoning “ run, using just trip mileage against full tank (waiting for trip to reach 330ish)I waited until the tank was again down to what I thought was a low level, I again took the cover off, and pulled sender out, whilst carefully popping off the hose attachment from the Jet pump first, I checked for any of the two wires were broken, dislodged or broken joints and continuity, then checked resistance was ok, which was giving inaccurate reading when I moved the float from Zero position thru 180 degrees. I then cleaned the half moon pick up plate face with a fine 3m rubbing cloth, after which I then found the resistance was much more variable when moving it through the same motion, put everything carefully back in position, checked for any DTCs with my basic V-Gate Scan tool VS450,

The following fault code came up, which was expected:

00438 -042

Fuel supply Sensor 2 (G169)

Sporadic 010-open or short to plus

Cleared Fault, (Low fuel light beeped once)..went and fuelled car up, which was just under 50 litres......Fuel gauge now reads Full, and the distance has returned to show 420 miles, then rechecked if fault was still clear, non found.

I believe this has cured the problem, though I will make show I have a Gallon in boot if any doubt with mileage and meter etc.........these sensors are not cheap!!!

Hope this is of help to anyone on here, perhaps in the future

Cheers for reading (y)

Thanks for the info, how much did they charge for the parts and fitting? (If you don't mind me asking) the DTM looks stunning, I've always liked white cars since owning my old series 1 RS turbo :)

Thanks, Karl.

Morning....:smile new:

£389.00 all in, CamBelt, Tensioner, Pulley (Kit), Water Pump, Coolant refill....they had Car in on the Thursday early am, I collected next day, mid afternoon.

David also carried out a system check, just to be sure etc...

Still have the Silly erratic idle, they explained t is quite normal for these to sound like it does......Direct injection...

I too, am looking at new Boots on the RS4 Alloys!!!!!!:grumpy:

@Ritusmaximum
Looks nice and clean in white. I have but one minor suggestion. Try and find a proper DTM badge for the rear. I know they are expensive (I'm after one to embed into my steering wheel) but would finish off the rear end perfectly .

Hi Mate...

Yep, that will be changing soon..:grinning:....I said that when I first got it, as it gives the impression that it is a Diesel Turbo?.......although funny enough, these TFSi's direct injection sounds a bit Dieselish?...

There are two companies in Germany that do the original Badges, and they are ****** expensive, but I will be doing it soonish, along with a real pukker grill one as well, which they also do!!!...

:sign ot:Shame about Giosabcsl has put his Blue one up for grabs, as that is what I was originally going for, but Hey, someones going to get a Good Car..

It was a complete unt off the shelf, if you want one for a DTM you need to buy a standard SE one as they're the right size, The RS4 ones require cutting down. Think it was about £125 from eBay, shipped form Poland but the same ones in the UK were £200. Only slight issue is the gap between the top and the bonnet is about 2mm bigger, it loos exaggerated cos the standard one is chrome and hides the gap too. If you want more info PM me fella. Always happy to help.

Cheers STZ999, RamboDTM....I may go down the route of purchasing two badges (DTMs)...and the Sline Grill badge, then try and "Butcher" the Sline to enable one of the DTM Badges to be mounted??..

Can anyone recommend a 'one stop shop' for the K04 conversion.?
Im not looking to collect parts then get fitted over time as I am far to impatient and not mechanically minded. Even recommended APR dealers seem disinterested hmmm.

Currently 260bhp/280ft/lb on AMD's rolling road.

To do -
K04, New alloys, Black grille

Tx .. Toot

p.s
Just replaced my rear brake pads (288mm dia rear disc) - Eurocarparts, Pagid pads - part no.101441178 - £27.99
Reading Audi - Rear 288mm solid disc - £49.24 incl. ea. / Pads - £50.18 incl. set.

First time I've seen those. Would be nice to see then a shade darker to match the DTM carbon but I'm really liking it.

As I'm looking to black out my front and rear I'm trying to find carbon badges aswell but they are rare. Seen gloss black ones which would do. I want to get rid of the chrome aswell. Not over keen on it and want the front looking meaner than it already does.

The Carbon Fibre inserts look quite expensive,(About £200 for a pair, with shipping?) and by the ad, are made to order, I think I will await someone else to sample them first?......Anyone???
...(Incidentally,ECS have two versions of the standard intake covers, in Matt Black (Which I have), or Phantom Black pearlescent, same colour as my roof!! @ £55 each side)

Talking of which, I have spent a lot of time (Hooked) on http://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-B7_A4-Quattro-2.0T/ looking at prices and parts, they seem to have available every Nut and Bolt for Audis, plus more....I am just setting myself a "Shopping list", and awaiting a Tax rebate (Never going to happen!!!)....interestingly, they have some quite competitive prices, such as the DTM Badges, which are about 35% down on the UK Fleabay items?...this will form part of my list, as they also have the badge mounting clips, so as to fit one on my grill...I think you will find your parts, if you put in a later version with the Black emblems etc.......otherwise, check pages 6-9 on exterior!!!.

Just for the moment, My basic shopping list will also include the RS4 Jack point protection block kit, modified Oil pick up pipe, left hand engine cover (Pas pump, coolant and washer bottle), replacement Rocker cover to Turbo pipe with check valve, RS4 Rear ARB kit, and possibly the PCV Valve delete with catch Tank (I have the Revo one)...maybe some other items as well?................But will check most prices thru the Groups parts Guru first........and then more Food Bank visits for a year!!!....:yahoo:...forgetting that I really need 4 Uniroyal Rainsport 3s, before any list goes anywhere!!!

Look at the price for the Front Carbon Splitter!!...£500, and £300 for the Carbon Boot lip!!!!:frown new:

Catch up

Just got one of these, completely standard at the moment but plans are a foot!

Tony, i would have thought top money in the UK for a vgc DTM with 80k would be £8250

Keith, i think we might be making similar plans...!
