Hi, First post from a happy A6 owner here! Certainly a change from my VW T5.

My cars a Facelifted (2009) model with Bluetooth but I can't seem to pair my phone to it?
The phone is a Nokia 635 and it can find a 'headset' which I believe is the car? but it's 'unable to pair' when I select it.

If I go to 'Tel' and 'search for new phones' (or something like that) it asks to turn the bluetooth on (which you do obivously) but can't find the phone when it search's?

It does have a cradle in the armrest but as it's facelift I should be able to connect any phone? It's an SE and so comes with 'Mobile telephone preparation – Low with Bluetooth and voice control' I believe.

I'll scan it with VCDS at the weekend, if it is a hardware issue is the bluetooth module under the passenger seat of glovebox do we know?

I'm hoping it'll just need an update, i'll probably get the discs from Audi if they'll let me have them.

Cheers

if you go looking in below the carpet you'll not find it on a facelift as it's built into the 5f controller in the glovebox.

my old samsung was a pain to pair with the bluetooth controller in my dad's old a6.

Saves me whipping the seat out then which is good, I presume the module itself is similar to that under the seat? Apologise for my ignorance but what is the 5F controller? the main MMI 'headunit'?

I'm hoping it is just a glitch and a software update will solve it, but good to know just incase.

Unless you understand the 3G system, and know how to update the firmware & know what version you would need I would not touch the firmware update, it's not as simple as the old 2G system. Also it's very unlikely Audi dealers will sell you the firmware update SD cards, your best option is to google MMI 3G firmware updates and have a read, and download the correct image. Also don't mix up 3G with 3GP/+ they are complete different systems and the firmware between the two are not compatible.

Depending on the Age of your firmware, if you update the the latest version the the maps may not work so you would have to download the latest maps and the hack file to enable the maps, otherwise it would need a trip to the Audi dealers to buy the license & enable the maps.

Interesting point b5nut, I thought my car is fitted with 2g (no satnav & no Joystick) and being a jan 09 model it may have got caught up in the cross over..... But....

A little research and it maybe fitted with 3g 'low', some early face lifted cars apparently came without Satnav but had SD card slots and a single CD drive which is what mine has....

I'll probably avoid updating it if that's the case.....

Try pairing from the phone (ie have the phone look for the car rather than the car look for the phone)

Sounds like it is a facelift car but with MMI 3G Low, unit is the glove box with SD Card slots means it is 3G. To begin with only the TDie version came with Sat Nav as standard so there are a lot of cars out there without Sat Nav. By the end of 09 Sat Nav was standard across the range
