Hi all,

Does anyone know when the Cam belt intervals are on a 2006 A3 2.0TDI? Can't seem to find it any where in any books I have. Was changed 4 years ago and with 75K on clock. It is now at 125K. Any help would be appreciated. Also any idea on cost? If it's a fair bit of money might get rid as needs tyres as well.

Thanks

Belt interval is 70/5k or four years whichever comes first I believe - costwise you're looking around the 350 mark from memory I think..

Some cam belts last for 10years on a new car, if you're lucky. Prudence says change after 4 as most dealers and independants recommend.

This is off their website

Cambelt wear is also influenced by a number of other factors including the mileage and various sources of contamination, therefore it's essential that it's replaced at recommended intervals. We recommend that your cambelt is replaced every 5 years or 75,000 miles, whichever comes first**, to ensure optimum safety and performance. Cambelt replacement is a complex job but by entrusting your car to us, you can be confident that the work is being done by experienced Audi Trained Technicians.

And the 1st one was replaced at 5 years and 74K

Really tempted to get another car thinking A5 TDI

That's a good price by AMD, anywhere else that cheap that's reputable?

I read here somewhere that AMD don't use genuine parts.

I use VWAudiTec in Chelmsford, they come very highly recommended and they are all ex VW techs. I recently had them service my Skoda VRS and they serviced my A3 as well as change the cambelt/water pump. Very knowledgeable and very thorough AND they guarantee to use genuine parts.

If I remember rightly the cambelt/water pump cost around £350 ish all in.

They are my new go to garage.

Of course they use Audi parts. The don't necessarily come in an Audi white box but they are the same.

Just had AMD Essex confirm they use the same parts, just sourced directly from the same 3rd party suppliers Audi use so same stuff. Now who will price match them is the next question....

I was repeating what I read from someone on this forum, I neither know or care either way.

Had mine done last week. Cambelt kit & water pump - £360ish. 2.2hours labour time.
