Control Arms set on B6

Hi all,

Just bought my tdi quattro sport avant couple of months back and want to change all the control arms on the car. I had a quick search and people seems to get the Meyle HD arms or Lemforder ones?

I am thinking to get the whole kit, as i think none of them has been change? it would be good to know how long it would take for the garage to do the work.

Any feedback or recommendations are welcome.

An hour per corner would be average but all depends on whether the old ones play ball and no nuts or bolts are seized etc.
 
Try allowing a day!!! Without doubt the pinch bolts will be seized and a right **** to get out, any garage that has done these before will quote you high because of this, my garage will only take these on now on a hourly basis as have lost out in the past.

Thanks, I will ring up to get some quotes first, I am thinking to replace the suspension components as well while it's getting the control arm replaces, as the car did 145k miles already.

As you said, guess some bolts will be seized!


Anyone have any installed? Are they meyle ones or lamforder? Or something else
 
Lemforder are OEM, last drop links I bought from ECP still had the VW Audi stamp faintly visible.
Pinch bolts are bound to be siezed. Steel bolts in an aluminium casting is a recipe for corrosion.:audibash:

about to order the control arms now, cant decided whether to get the Meyle hd ones or the lemforder from ecp?
The meyle kit seems to include all the bolts too?
 
I went with Meyle HD last xmas for the front ...purely on cost and recommendation off this site , the Lemforder was out of my price range at the time.. I spent a day on each corner and had problems with the pinch bolt and one particularly stubborn ball joint and yes it all came with bolts + nuts and track rod ends too
