About to change my S3 8L AMK bulbs. I know there's lots of information on the best way so snot sure where to start. I was wanting someone info from first hand experience whether it's better to take bumper off, remove battery, etc or just fiddle my hands In.

Thanks

Yeah it's definitely fiddly doing bulb change with headlights insitu.

Near Side is generally easier to do as there's abit more room between back plates and battery than Offside.
I've not got the smallest of hands but have changed bulbs before with some swear words and a few cuts to hands.... Lol...

Tbh, undoing a few screws in arch and popping sides of bumper out, then the two holding bolts for headlight unit only takes 10mins but makes changing bulbs much easier with more room.

Thanks for your reply appreciate it. Wasn't actually to difficult but came across an annoyance. I have a 2001 facelift s3 , so bought d2s bulbs, my headlights have been changed recently (previous owner) due to a small bump and they have replaced them with a3 headlights which look identical but run h1, so will need to return my d2s. Bit annoying. Anyone recommend h1 bulbs? They genuinely looked like 4300k xenons hence why I never suspected anything.

Yeah.... I converted my prefacelift to facelift so went down the A3 headlight route.

I ended up buying a H1 HID kit from ECP.

Just brought a new set of DEPO Headlights that I'm converting to Bi-Xenon so going to use same HID kit.
