I lowered my a3 8p2 40/50mm and realised the shocks were shot and currently have a harsh ride.

…So I'm due to buy a new set, do I buy standard shocks again as Ive read a few post were people are saying eibach on standard shocks set up is good enough?

Seem to remember oe shocks are compatable with the Eibach Pros but the Sportlines are even lower . Contact Eibach or have a look round their website.

You could probably use the full range of Bilstein B4 , B6 or B8 .

For 40/50 the shorter B8 would be best .

Personally I'd go for something like the Bilstein B8 dampers with the Eibach Sportiness.

Sorry for the thread hijack but Damian, what's difference between B8 short and B6 short shocks? B6 a little softer?

As Gazwould has said :sunglasses:

Thank you to both.

So that means B8 short isn't stiffer than B6 but it offers the same "amount" of damping in a shorter body to work with lower springs?

Out of interest are you running s line shocks? Because the eibach are supposed to be a perfect match for them.

No my car is an se... I did think aboyt putting s line shocks on... Hmm

I haven't an 8P or S-line, but I have a - 30 mm Eibach Pro kit with oe Sport 1be Bilstein B4 dampers .

Excellent ride quality .

What is the ride like on these with eibachs?
Apparently the ride is excellent and the most approved set up on S Line dampers, there not as harsh on smaller bumps in the road and a lot more progressive, so they smooth it all out, its my next upgrade for next year now.

Eibach pro-kit are by far the best if you want to use factory shocks, but the factory shock doesn't damp as much as it should so if you go with a slightly stiffer damper the ride is even better from what I've read.

Not really enjoying the ride at the moment I have had h and r roll bars fitted and eibach pro kit front springs, with the original shocks. I'm finding the ride is quite crashey would the B8 make the ride more comfortable or not?

Yeah should do because the factory shock doesn't damp the spring enough, it is too soft.

Moving to a stiffer damper means that the movement of the spring is damped more and gets rid of the crash.

I would chuck the hole SE setup in the bin and go for the eibach B12 kit where you get matched bilstein shocks & eibach springs. I've got B12 kits fitted to my A6 & A4 and the ride is fine, fat better than the sline setup, and a dam sight cheaper. Look on German ebay or include Europe search's on ebay uk for prices as they are a good couple of hundred pound cheaper in Germany (including shipping) than UK prices.
