Just back after hitting a fox tonight at about 50mph. The fox disappeared but it's broken my front bumber along with the insert across the bottom and the grey part at the fog light is cracked as is my new grill. I think I'm going to cry :cry:

Now what to do? Insurance? or try and get a secondhand bumber and parts. My no claims is protected but my excess totals £350.

I don't think the fox got far. I think that's a bit of it on the bumper, or it's a bit of ****** chicken it was having for its dinner.

Don't be fooled by protected no claims , as soon as you make a claim it makes a difference , protected or not !

This is what I was worried about too.

Don't know if the bumber can be repaired

Flipping bad luck mate, buy a new bumper front grill then get a small bodyshop to paint and put it on, more expensive short term but cheaper long term when renewal time comes with a claim against the insurance bandits

I'll get a better look tomorrow but yeah, I think it'll be new bumper and possibly grill. Not long got the grill either

Well looks like I've been part of the food chain. Whatever was stuck to the bumper last night is now gone lol.

Piece of my grill is missing and a lots of red wiry hair has been added.

Oh and my four year old son is singing "What did the fox say!"

wow bad luck mate, mate of mine a few years back hit a deer which wrote the car off! He ended up on his side in a ditch...right mess.

Bad luck, hope you get it sorted out soon....I reckon cheapest way is bumper off of eBay and get a local garage to do the fitting

Insurance claim and/or Audi garage will be expensive

There is a s3 braking in classifieds. May be worth getting bumper and anything else you need and get it re sprayed. The member breaking is @lakers1234

If it makes you feel any better (I'm sure it doesn't) I bumped someone in a towbar last week which wrecked my grill, so i'm on the hunt too. If you can find a bumper set with the grille and lower grille i'll split it with you! I need a black pack setup though :(

That fox.. Probably being bummed by a badger with a BMW jacket on...

Yep, protected no claims is a con. Don't bother with it.

Thanks mate. There is a few bumpers on eBay at the minute. I think I'm just going to wait on a decent black one from there. My car is the s line and I've not long put the black s3 grill on. A piece of the grill trim as came off. Don't suppose your damaged one still has it intact that you could spare when you eventually get a new one?

Few months back I hit a badger in the early hours at over 100mph and did something similar except my bumper crack isn't visible from the front as it is under the front lip. I replaced the black mesh area as that was knackered (where the fog light would go on those A3s so equipped) and also the think black strip of plastic on the side of the bumper. The front wheel arch liner which wraps round underneath the front corner is broke (now needs a cable tie to hold the wheel arch liner against the inside of the front bumper) but with a bit of invisible gaffer tape and a couple of bits of plastic replaced (approx £100) you would never know.

My motor is French after all so is almost mandatory to have a few dings/dents on it, local Audi garage just shrugged and asked if it still drove OK and if so to just leave it.

How so?, I only ask because I opted for it on my renewal.
It's not a con, but people don't understand what it does I think. It doesn't mean your insurance doesn't change price at all following a claim, it just reduces the increase.
When you have a claim your premium goes up, but if you have protected NCD then the discount from your NCD stays the same. You end up paying more, but not as much as if you'd lost your NCD.

As a quick example, say your premium is £800 and you have 50% discount from NCD, you pay £400.
You have a claim, your premium is now £1200. With protected NCD you get 50% off so you pay £600. Without protected NCD you lose some or all of your NCD, so you pay more like £800-1200.

So you're paying to reduce the impact of a claim, not completely eliminate it.

On a similar note....I was tearing it round some back roads in the golf r, really pushing it, giving it some extra welly with the dtuk box on. It handled so damn well and went like hell, great time until I came round a long sweeping left hand bend at mach 3 to be met by 15 or so crows just chillin on the road lol...it didn't end well for the one that felt the warmth of my Bridgestone rubber and feck knows what happened to the one that trampolined off my window as it tried to fly away lol

Lol a modern day Wordsworth!

Many a tale...a duel with a very fast and loud 1970s Escort today. But let's not get in to that ha. The R Forum with its "cars you embarrassed" thread is a bit of marmite, but I love it :)

Lol I tanned his *** but he clearly had way more fun in his car than I did mine. His sounded unreal. Must of had an engine swap as it sounded like a muscle car. Do fancy an old school motor...but an old SL...awesome. S3 can't come quick enough.

The other half thinks il regret it as I'm always going on about how aggressive the R looks with the larger wheels, Oettinger spoiler and pano roof. It gets so many admiring looks, perhaps being wide boy white with tints ha. Unsure if the s3 gets as many looks as it is very understated. Shame I couldn't drive the s3 like I stole it, salesman came out with me so could t really tell how it differs to the r

Had a lot of compliments on my car.......from all ages mate...you will love the interior far,far better than the golf, but you will not be able to chuck it about as much comfortably as you DO the golf, but saying l have never driven the Golf R....

Ebony & lvory...a complete reversal....YOU have gone for,l look forward to the Stealth look...although lunar would look awesome on a black car..lol

Lol I am sure it would look cracking, but hell of an expensive mistake to make if I wasn't 100% sold! The super sport seats just looks awesome, and look utter luxury. Makes the car in my opinion. Sure with some coilovers the car will handle just as good. Just hope I get some decent tyres, these Bridgestone Potenzas on the R are woeful
