Last week on eBay I won a genuine rs4 cabriolet start button and housing for the sum of 18 quid so fitted it today

this is it in the 8P, (wiring schematic description and steering controller is obv different) it's not alot of work although that depends on your technical skill http://audiretrofit.quinlivan.net/rs4startbutton

you still have to turn the ignition on with the key however so it just adds an extra step. I personally wouldn't have it and only really makes sense if you have the kessy system however, its nice to look at and makes a difference from the pointless storage tray :)

How was it to wire in? Been looking at doing this for a while
Dead easy .. You have 8 pins on the plug but you only need to use 4 of them 1.3.4.6
1 power for the light up ( you can use cig lighter)
3 is earth for the light up (cig lighter)
4 is live from the ign trigger ( red and black wire from ign)
6 is earth for the ign trigger ( black wire from ign)

Looks very long winded but nothing I couldn't tackle myself with a few hours spare. I hate that little coin tray thing, just fills with dust and rubbish.

something i've been tempted before by, i'm sure I saw another one somewhere that was a flip up style like the cig lighter?

Ooh very nice, I nearly fitted a push button start in my Lexus IS200. Retro fitting the push button start from a Honda S2000 was a fairly common modification on those.

Welcome back Gord.
Do you lose the ability to start it normally?

You could if you don't rejoin the wires but I left it so you use it both ways but I might disconnect the key one

Hmmmm I like that, does roof switch fit in a premade hole or what, you got a pic of the bit you bought Gordy???

I didn't notice this before, what is the kessy system?
