Just trying to fit this hose I got from ebay http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/221815137240

It seems shorter in overall length then standard so I can't get a snug fit both ends and also the smaller side of the hose seems larger in diameter so I may have to put electrical tape around to make it a more snug fit. Wasn't expecting this from a £50 hose that's described to be for the S1.

Anyone else had problems fitting?

Strangely yes,
the larger end as you have pictured, has moved,
therefore the Hose clip requires tightening regularly,
there is movement from the airbox itself.
Pain in the A!
I'll be swapping the whole lot soon anyway,
for a Pipercross Induction Kit.

I'm thinking they f****d it up and cut it too short (waiting on reply from seller) it's sbout 30mm shorter then the standard hose. If I fit it i would have to position it so I had about 15mm bite on both ends which I don't have any confidence in when under psi load.

Quite agree,at the time I was charged £45.00,
it was initially custom made for a member on here,
charged him £20.00!, then had the idea to hike his price!
I've probably left it too late to moan, saying that if we
had a joint moan with photo evidence, well we will see!

Have you managed to fit yours and use it? How did you get around the smaller side being too large? I tighten the jubilee clip as far as I can go but it still slips if I pull it it's not tight at all. I was thinking about using tape to bulk it out a bit. Still I shouldn't have to do all this for a £50 hose :s

It's on,the smaller end connection was not too bad on mine.
It's the larger end connection that's the problem,
Hasn't caused any issues with use,
it does sound better, and breath better.
Hopefully this PM I'll be fitted my turbo delete,
which will spool the turbo a bit quicker!

Mine was the first he made. It fitted on the larger ,airbox, side but I had to cut down the other end as it was too long. I didn't realise he was cutting them that much shorter. The fit on the airbox end was fine and the turbo inlet end just fitted slightly loosely but the jubilee clip fixed that. Maybe it was a genuine mistake

Yeah the airbox end fitted ok but the turbo end needed a few turns of tape in it, not too much of a issue. He definatly cut my one too short, I got it on but it's hardly got anything to grip on to either end so I will be sending it back hopefully he will send me another one with a inch or two more

sorry guys but i said this from the off , i brought the revo , fits perfect ( its not just a straight 45 degree ) and includes filter
buy cheap buy twice !

Yeah but me, along with a load of others, haven't had a problem with the pipe. I just did it as an exercise in not getting ripped off by Revo. Charging £130 for a piece of pipe and a Pipercross filter is a bit of a joke. If you want to pay that then kudos to you

i brought mine used from a guy on here !
all im saying is you pay for the development revo have put in , i seen the "pipe " ones at aitp show and to me revo worth the extra money

Been in touch with the seller on eBay seems a genuine mistake was made, they all shouldn't be like mine. I'll be sending him my photos and I should get a replacement.

I've got the revo intake to no problems fits perfect!!
The revo intake also looks a lot wider than the cheaper one know which one I'd rather have.

Hmm, from the side it looks a bit odd, almost like a kink..

I thought that doesn't look right it's almost a sharp bend which would restrict airflow probably more than the oem part.
Buy cheap buy twice.

It's not a kink it's a bit of Daniels engine. Mine has a curve in the pipe but it's hardly going to restrict airflow. The revo pipe has a bend too. It has to so it fits

I know it has a bend in it, but in the pic it looks like the underside is kinked, i know it's not, just looks that way.

Sorry guys your just kidding yourselfs the revo intake has been properly manufactured that's why your paying the extra money. It doesn't have any sharp bends and is much wider and you don't have to send it back.
You pay for what you get!

Mine seems to fit fine and even if the mk hose dose have a slightly sharper bend. I don't think it will make any difference tbh for people running a stage 1-2. The difference in air flow would be absolutely minimal, but for people wanting to take the car over 400 a open filter will probably be a even better option in the long run as surely the air box will restrict the airflow

So the Revo one is "properly manufactured" and "doesn't have any sharp bends" lol. What about where it joins onto the turbo inlet, that's hardly straight. Again if you want to pay £100 for a piece of pipe then it's up to you. I haven't had to buy 2 pipes.

The revo pipe is a samco hose made for revo. The way the pipe connects up is strange anyways.

Yeah Daniel the Revo one looks like a big funnel and you know what happens when things are put into a funnel, they back up. The airflow must really get restricted, probably even worse the the original lmfao.

Not had any issues with mine.
DTYME83

this one dont look good ! that has to ne more restrictive than the oem is virtually 90 degrees ! the revo one fits perfect no no bends or funny angles just smooth pipe between air box and the turbo
open filters are not good most tests have proven no performance improvements

The guys at Awesome GTI and APR didn't seem to have an issue with the way it fitted and if there was an issue I am sure they would have raised it with and advised to either leave the standard one or look at an alternative.

Again all this "the Revo pipe has no bends or funny angles" look at the picture. It narrows down like a funnel and has a massive bend where it meets the turbo inlet. That has to cause massive air disruption no matter what Revo say

That's funny, so compare mine with a gentle curve to the Revo that looks like a funnel with a massive kink at one end. I think there is no competition lol. Even APR are having no problems with Daniels car and his is probably going to be pushing 360+ bhp with the MK pipe

from a performance pount i very much doubt there is any difference from the oem to revo or the cheapo
but imo the revo one looks more engineered and fit for purpose

Kind of sad when you stoop to calling the mk pipe "cheapo". The idea of the forum is the exchange of ideas and experiences of owning an S1 not pathetic name calling. The whole idea was to offer an alternative by a company who, like Samco, make high quality hoses for all aspects of car engines from water and oil to air pipes . Again if you want to spend £100 on a pipe that is up to you. There is an old saying that a fool and his money are soon parted

Blimey! This has all kicked off a bit!

Shall we leave it fellas everyone has their own point of view.

did nt mean any thing by that , you brought it because it was " cheaper " than revo so put cheap and revo together ! lol

Guys I recieved my new pipe but it has a big bend in it, anyone else have this problem?

What's the issue, a picture speaks a thousand words
DTYME83

If its like mine then that is normal. It has to have a bend in it to connect between the airbox and turbo inlet. Even the Revo has a bend.

or this is the proper one ....
