I noticed recently that a small rubber buffer is missing from the right hand side sliding flap that covers the roof mechanism when the roof is lowered. On a couple of occasions this has caused the flap to jam half-open.

My local Audi dealer tells me that the part is only available with a trim assembly unit priced at £68+VAT (Gulp!)

It's possible that the part on my car fell off and dropped into the hole when I was shunted from behind some time ago but I can't see how to retrieve it if it is down in the depths somewhere.

Before I start trying to carve a replacement out of a wine bottle cork, does anyone have one of these lying around that they could sell me or know where there's a scrap cabrio that I could get one from?

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Did you try our parts request system?

I'm sure you could fashion something to fit there, out of hard rubber or plastic. Just takes a bit time whittling.

I've just had a look and the system refers to genuine parts from Audi dealers. My local dealer was very helpful and even supplied a screen print of the parts catalogue.

The bit I need is one very small part of an assembly that is not supplied separately so I'm really looking for someone who has cabrio parts lying around in his/her garage or knows where I can find one that's being scrapped.

Breakers yard? Normally a few cars on ebay being broken it might be worth chasing down.

Surely you could fashion something out of an eraser?

How does it attach on? Does it have to be made of rubber, can it be plastic?

I am kind and also have a 3d printer ha ha which is why I was asking if it had to be rubber or plastic
