What have you done today?

How tight?
I have some heat protection tape I plan on wrapping tightly around the loom, then putting it in the tfsi loom conduit
It will fit Karl I had to leave most of the tape off but it did go in after a bit of pushing around, worst bit was around #3 at its fattest point.

I'm going to give the injector loom a go next after seeing yours

I took a friend of mine out Saturday... he is a serial japist and in the process of turbocharging his Honda Aero Deck... he reckoned with 350hp the lightness of his Honda would overcome the power of my hefty S3... soon changed his mind when I took him out... phrases such as 'pinned to the seat' and 'can't believe how it hooks' up were uttered along with the words 'quiet' and 'civilised'...

Not too shabby for a posh Golf :)

<tuffty/>

Yeah he was a jap fan. Surprisingly he went quiet when he was pinned in his seat and looked awfully terrified but acted all cool after! lol.

I can't help but laugh when I've destroyed someone. Strangely satisfying..

Some more angles of that beautiful escort

when mine was in the bodyshop on one of its several visits I found the guy who owned the place had just rebuilt one and had more chassis in the shop in need of some attention

I failed at fixing the scuttle panel over the weekend; still wont sit in the groove at the base of the windscreen despite pulling it all apart and cleaning out the groove - think I need a new groove

Val's on the road. Hehe

Finally going to get round to servicing today; oil, air and pollen filters, oil change. Also felt a slight "juddering" when braking on the motorway on Sunday so going to look at my brakes too and see what's going on there.

Removed forge 007p and fitted standard dv

007p rebuild kit turned up today so will get it serviced tomorrow and put back on.

Also shortened some of the new silicone vac lines from n249 bypass ... ended up removing around 1 and a half feet of unnecessary extra pipe !!

Still yet to order my oversize tip and silicone boost hoses .

And finally I've found out that my washer bottle has a leak ... the joys

bumped into a friendly Autoglass fitter in the car park today on my lunch break; I asked his advice on my scuttle panel and he fixed there and then whilst I went and grabbed some lunch in about 5mins

replaced a blown led number plate bulb and serviced my 007p DV. mine was still using the old style piston and when i removed it was slightly wedged open.

Tonight (rather than today) I will be trying to improve on my previous efforts to photograph the moon...

...as I took delivery of a couple of teleconverters today that should hopefully help punch out a little further without having to do big crops...

Soooo after waiting for what seemed like an eternity for the Moon to be in view from my back garden I set up the camera and my laptop...

IMAG1400.jpg

Used the EOS Utility software and live view to track the moon and to try to get a sharp picture... had to wind the shutter speed down quite a bit as the moon is not as bright...

Took a couple of handheld shots to get an idea of shutter speed... initially without the teleconvertors fitted then after realising I took a couple more with them fitted... the difference is quite impressive...

Uncropped, no TC's fitted...
20151002-IMG_7892.jpg

...and with no crop, TC's fitted... (for the same zoom on the lens)
20151002-IMG_7896.jpg

Quite different :D

The EOS software is quite nice and helps with my crappy eyesight lol...
eosutility.jpg

You can zoom in which while quite noisy does help with fine tuning the focus...

The end result was this pic... not sure if its the best one yet but was one of the better ones... need to post edit on my proper IPS screen ratehr than the laptop...
20151002-IMG_7921.jpg

What was actually quite cool was watching how fast the moon actually moves (that and the earth of course)

Videoed this from live view on the laptop... camera was not moving as it was on a tripod of course... really surprised at its speed

ask your wife for a bigger bath ... maybe next time when she left you alone at home you can clean your grill with complette bumper .... lol

Haha, it's a pretty big bath anyway. I had the grill out as I have wrapped the chrome surround and while I was at it may as well give it a clean

why would you wrapped your grill its way easy to use plasti dip colour?

I did have plasti dip on it, first time I did it, it peeled in the corner after about a year. Second time I did it, the pressure washer took a section off. So this time I wrapped it using 3m carbon fibre, same as my door blades which have been on for about 2 years

Well it is new to me and there is lots to do. Fitted driver door blade and fixed the cup holder.
Practiced taking stereo out whilst considering options.

After finally getting the exhaust system all fitted how I wanted it I think it sounds much better now so very happy

I made a little sound check vid (nothing crazy) after being asked by a couple of people so here it is for anyone interested (spec in video)

I finally had the chance to give mine a good once over this weekend and it's disappointing, but to be expected.

The front bumper and rear bumper are a bit of a mess, but I will be replacing these anyway. I just gave it a hand polish and wax but the level of swirls on the body is quite heavy, I have the week off next week so will be spending a nice couple of days tidying that up.

I also went to change my front discs and pads and my drivers side disc is warped slightly... Only to take a disc out of the box and realise I had been given 266mm instead of 280mm :sob: so I will be taking these back this week and fitting next weekend!

In for a front bar, rear insert colour code and roof paint fix up (bird poop damage and a garage door dent :( )

Image

Swamped my front tyres for a couple of spares i had kicking about, solved my strange noise issue, the bloke at the center reckons the tread had separated. Just my boost issue to fix now! going to blag a inspection mirror from work and have a look at the manifold and hotside of the turbo and see if they're cracked (i hope not, both stock items and the car is quite low mileage!) If there's no cracks then it must be the actuator

Fitted a bigger tank in the boot so it should last a bit longer between top ups now

Removed the TB to splash some paint on and fit a second injector nozzle in the spacer

And then put back together ready for testing

I'm looking forward to see what difference it will make

Went for a drive on Monday and lost most of my power, couldn't make any boost and sounded like there was a massive leak, nursed the car home then couldn't be bothered to check it out. Popped the bonnet today and found this

12108964_10153619673255792_3112935853865062830_n.jpg

That would explain it sounding like a leak... stuck it back on and double clamped it, hopefully it wont pop off again any time soon!
