Never used gap insurance before...but at 41k..I think I better buy some for the s3!!
I'm getting the car on a 4 year pcp so do I need a year year insurance??
Which are the reputable firms as don't want to go with the wrong company?

I have my gap insurance through ALA.co.uk but if you do a internet search for Gap Insurance you will come up with quite a few. Most will allow you to do an online quote based on the price of your car and the number of years. There are also different types of policy such as Return to Invoice where the amount of top-up will be to the total original invoice price and Replacement where the top-up will be the necessary amount required to purchase another car to the same spec. I'm not sure which is the best for a PCP. Most of the companies seem to be OK but unfortunately it's only something you will find out for sure if you have to make a claim.

www.gapinsurance123.co.uk you can get a instant quote, you want the Combined Vehicle Replacement one ;)

Based in our area as well mate, I took it from day one over the 4 years. Give them a call to ask any questions you have, they are very helpful.

Before people tell you your insurance covers the first year...check your insurance!, a lot do but then in the small print say "As long as the same car & spec is available in the UK". I called and asked what if it wasn't available in the UK, the answer = reverts to book price for the cars age when it went missing!

Think it cost me £50 more to have it from day 1 rather than defer it for a year.

Audi have always matched ALA's price for me.

Hi,

Although we don't offer GAP insurance, we do offer a cost effective alternative which is Total Loss Protection.

If you wanted to PM me your details I can arrange for our quotes team to give you a call to discuss this further?

Kind regards,
Dan.

Dan, do you have a link to read more?

Ive seen the wonders you do over passionford with everyone else so when its close to me picking my RS up ill be giving you guys a call.

@ Dan excuse my ignorance about your company and I don't mean for this to sound rude, but are you just a broker that would insure me/us with the cheapest quote available....like using gocompare for instance...or am I missing what you do?

I had a policy with them on my last car and then wrote it off when it was 359 days old. They refused to pay out, stating that I should get a replacement vehicle from my insurance company instead. There was a 32 week wait for a new car, which was not acceptable to me, so I took the cash offer from my insurance and bought the A3. I then made a written complaint to GI123 letting them know what had happened. They then relented, but only paid me out to the value of the Audi, not its predecessor, which was around 3 grand in their favour. In other words, their RTI policy paid out on the car I now own, not the insured one I wrote off!

All of this took over 3 months of emails and phone calls, too...

Well, I got something instead of the nothing they originally said I was getting, so not all bad. They stopped responding to my emails once they'd paid out, so I never really got a satisfactory answer to my questions about them paying out on a different car to the one in the policy...

Got mine through Chris Knott £151 for 3 years, £20000 claim limit

I hate insurance companies and the way they work.
I see how our insurance dept. at work carry on and it is all about trying to avoid paying out.
I actually read the full policy and clarify issues before paying premiums. If I don't like the answer I tell them they have just lost my business.
It is amazing how many times they then have to discuss with their "broker" and then agree to accept my change in their standard terms. I usually do this via chat services and insist on an email of the conversation to confirm the policy adjustment / clarification.

I've literally just got off the phone to ALA after purchasing GAP insurance with them. Half the price that Audi offered (and that was after a heavy discount).

Always a little tentative dealing with new companies though....
