Hi, I have just picked up my a4 avant and it doesn't have bluetooth, I'm not fussed about having a parrot fitted and have seen then in eBay that fit to the stereo using the changer port.

Anyone have any experience of them?

Thanks

I fit lots of Parrot kits at work. What kit are you after? They dont plug in the changer socket but you do need to have the correct leads for it to mute and come through the speakers. Does your car have BOSE?

You don't say what year of A4 you have, mfsw or navigation. If you have either of these then go with the genuine Audi bluetooth. Costs more than a parrot, but well worth it.

It's a 2007 57 plate, it's got a mfsw but no nav. Genuine Bluetooth is good but doesn't work with newer phones.

Doesn't it, what do you mean by that? I have fitted hundreds of genuine audi bluetooth systems. Not really had any issues except with older Windows phones and the phone book.

If you get the latest phone ECU, the 8P1 which has been around for about 4 years then all phones will work.

Sorry, I mean that I have it in my a3 which is the same age and it doesn't work with my htc one m8. I assumed if fitted to the a4 it would be the same.

Your A3 will be fitted with an older module, probably a rev K or H, I have seen many issues with the older modules and phonebooks, disconnections also. But an 8P1 module which fits the A3/A4/A6/TT/R8 will be perfect.

Cheers for that mate, how much are these modules and could I put a new one in the a3 too?

You can, they are about £140 to 300 ish depending where you can buy one from. The correct part number is 8P1 862 335 for SW650 and the later version is 8P1 862 335 A which is SW660, but either should be good.

There is a full BT kit on Ebay for £229 with the latest module.

They will need coding for each car.
